Wessler rips the Braves

Imagine how good this team will be with better shooters and another year of experience!

I think all we can do is imagine, since we wish DSE and WE would have another year of experience.

Who are you thinking will be a lot better with a year of experience?

Possibly JC, KB, and TP - but everyone else in the league will probably advance even quicker than these guys, and really JC and KB haven't gotten a lot of experience this year.

I can't imagine our perimeter shooting will be a whole heck of a lot better next year, replacing DSE with OG, and a couple unproven freshmen stepping in.

My imagination only goes so far, Bravesfan. :)

I'm talking about whomever is coming in next year who I hope are as good shooters as some are making them out to be. And this includes any unknown bigs or JUCO's that Geno may be going after right now. Then this team will need another season to gel, so that's why I'm not expecting huge gains next year. I'm hoping we don't take a step back, but that's very possible with our losing DSE and the other seniors.

True, Geno has done a good job.

I also believe GF has done a good job of coaching but part of his responsibility is to make sure the team is ready to play at tip off and apparently they were not for some reason. I'd rather not be giving him the credit for getting us back in the game in the 2nd half. ;)

I like GF as a coach and have very little to criticize him as a floor general. What I'm concerned about right now is our recruiting. Recruiting at this level is a very big part of being a coach. You either can close guys, have the right HS connections or have a staff that excels.

Yes I wish we would have won yesterday but in the big scheme of things its not breaking my heart. I really just want to see this team improve and learn. I still say we have a chance to do something in St Louis if we can stay out of Thursday. JMHO

well if history repeats itself........:?

(sorry I had to)

How about the status quo? I want to see a jump in performance the next two years or otherwise I'm not going to be happy! As I keep saying I can see the coaching is excellent but able, tall, skilled athletic bodies IMO are still missing in the overall equation. If I'm a skilled big I'd have to consider BU because of playing time and an appearance of a back court that should be able to help your game.

I think Geno so far has done a good job of coaching. Everyone needs to give him time to recruit his players in here. That may take 2 to 4 years. I believe he is trying real hard. The fact he hired Ron Coleman shows he wants to try to get the best players he can out of Chicago. He will get it done. I like the recruits he has gotten so far

No bench

No bench

You can't win with 5 guys. There is no bench at all. Those guys are logging heavy minutes. You think Prosser and Shayok and kadarryl give us anything off the bench ? Everytime we substitute it's a problem. Need some recruits coming in ready to play cause this bench is bad. Hate to hear the horn. That's the reality of it and how we have won 14 games is incredible in itself.

If we weren't so short on the bench already I think we should have redshirted bell. He's shown flashes of being a good player but could have benefited more from a redshirt year

The more I watch (other Valley teams) the more I think we have one of the best backcourt tandems in the Valley...you know I really like our players, but our whole front court has had a rough time this year...bench or not...glimpses of nice production, but struggles...Thought Pross did some nice things Sunday...the tip in was nice...thought Bell played some good "D", but I need to watch the tape some more...

Prosser's down to single digit minutes.

We are playing hard with less than ideal roster. Give credit to the guys. But KW is right. We need to be more consistent.

I'll be happy with the status quo next year (15 to 17 wins) IF it leads to 20+ wins and at least an NIT appearance in year four. I think this is quite doable, but there has to be at least some expectation of some growing pains at least early next year until this team gels.

I do think that Geno made a judgement and burned this year in a sense, looking to the future. Milos, Grier and Fields are three scholarships that loom large on a team with depth issue.

History will show if it was the right decision, but I do think it is fair to judge Geno for that decision.

We are a 8th or 9th place team in the MVC.

do you think we'll be there for a while...?
this season we field a more experienced, athletic, older lineup than we will at any time for years to come...
The average age of our five starters this year is nearly 22 and a half years old!!!!!! Likely no team in Bradley's history except the use of 28-year olds after WWII - has BU started five guys whose average age is older than 22.
..the vast majority of our minutes are played by seniors, 6th year seniors, juniors, and 4th year juniors..all of whom have started plenty of games for several years.
Next year at least 3 of our starters will be guys who have not started very much - a couple might have to be guys who never even played here before..

I'm certain that next year there will be 2 and likely 3 starters who have never played a game for the Braves. That being said, two of them will have a year of D-I experience, and if there is a third, he'll likely have 1-2 years of JUCO experience. I'm not worried about the tenure of the players, if the talent level is higher (and deeper).

I presumed Bradley an 8th or 9th place team at the beginning of the season, but with fewer wins than they'll end up with. If you would have told me that they would finish 16-15, I would have figured that they would be better than the bottom 3 in the league.

Being old does not = good. Geno could recruit the markin and it would be better than Milos.

Here is how I see it. This year BU is beating bad teams closely and losing to good teams. Next year the schedule will pick up, but win totals remain steady but beating better teams close. The year after next - win big. I think that's a blueprint for any rebuilding team, let alone one that was so far down.

true these "older" players are the same players that lead us right through the last two embarrassing seasons. so I wouldn't expect a major increase in performance.

those expectations sound eerily similar to these which said when Geno was hired that we would surely be better right off the bat because we couldn't possibly get any worse....we did
