I have no idea what the beef is between PJS and BU. It could be that the PJS believes negative coverage sells and goes out of their way to make sure they can sell more ads. They maybe right and are just treating the coverage as a business. Imagine that! If you stop buying and reading the PJS perhaps they would have to change. Somehow I'd have to believe the paper is in survival mode and will do what it takes to sell.

I am about as close to canceling as I have ever been --and it's not just the lack of anything worth reading..
I just don't get my paper 'til 7:30AM long after leaving for work...and am tired of complaining about it

I have to think a whole lot of people reading the paper this morning
who might be POTENTIAL walk-up customers/fans...
DON'T even know from reading the paper that there is a game tonight!!!
3. The PJS knows what pays the bills. (Even though they are in the red)
I've spent so much money advertising in the Star it's ridiculous...and my only criteria is do I get anything out of it?......I'ver never based my dollars spent with them on the type of articles written in any section of the paper. I would think most businesses would feel the same way.
If the paper didn't sell the point that there was a game tonight, perhaps BU did not do a very good job of selling that point to the paper. There have been several marketing FAILS this year...such as the "Pack the Place" for the women's game that failed to fill more than 1/3 of the arena and had almost as many Illini fans as BU.

Actually, the PJS itself is profitable, but it's parent company Gatehouse is who's in the red.
Bradley doesn't have to sell the JS that there is a game. They know when there's a game. The pre game write up for the Utah game was pathetic.
You base it on readership and demographics I hope, so what I was saying is negative press attracts readership like it or not.
But it's different now...especially with our products. The demo is aging all the time. We use to have people bring in the paper with our ads all the time...not so much now since the web has taken over. We spend a third of what we use to and spend much more online now and I'm thinking of dropping out all together....but I'll still read it everyday.....now none of my kids
(in their 20's) will ever pick up a paper
Gotta have something to read over the morning coffee. Did anyone else notice the glaring errors in the Bradley stats colum in the Urnal this morning?
