Well, I gotta say it... it looks like the overwhelming majority of fans (almost 80%) here favor retaining Jim another year. We have had the fire-JL people telling us all year that it is the other way around, and that the majority of fans want him fired.

As a side note- there are hundreds of fans down here in St. Louis, including quite a lot of the "blue-hairs". I suspect most if not nearly all of these fans here in St. Louis do not have a laptop with them to vote in this poll. That means, in my estimation, that most people voting are the out-of-area fans, and the people who did not come to St. Louis. I have talked to numerous people down here, and I have not met anyone yet who wants Jim fired. So I believe that if these fans were added to the poll, it would be far more lopsided. The older fans don't tend to have computers or visit our site in great numbers anyway, and the huge majority of those older fans strongly support Jim Les.

So what I am saying, and others are free to disagree and I am sure there will be some who do, is that if this poll has any bias, IMO the bias strongly favors the fans who want Jim Les fired, since they tend to shout louder than the rest of us, and are more likely to stay home and not come to St. Louis. Even if you add a couple votes for the obnoxious, repeated rules-violating ones we have banned, it doesn't come close to equalling the hundreds of others who are down here in St. Louis and can't participate in the poll. I predict that by tomowwow, this poll will even more strongly favor retaining Jim, when those fans get home and vote.
The poll asked what you think is going to happen not what you want to happen....BIG difference.

The creator of this poll did not elect for this feature to be available. :o  :(

I set it up that way on purpose. I also set the poll up because I wanted a discussion the was presented by logical thought not some overtly back and forth slams. For the most part most of the posters have been up to the task.

Old Coach - The JL sentiments have been picked over more cleanly then a dead squirrel on an Alabama back road during the middle of summer. The vast majority of us have very little sway on what will happen.

SFP..............Thanks for my 1st laugh of the day...good stuff!

I am another one here in Stl and voted.
The one complaint I have about last night was the lack of fan enthusiasm but blame part of that on the music the band played. I heard several say the music wasn't conducive to getting the crowd fired up and it didn't except a few times. A couple of times the cheerleaders didn't even get into the music. Then check out WSt and see how their fans respond to the music their band plays. They were constantly on their feet.
I have no idea who is responsible but something has to change to get the fans fired up which in return should help get the team fired up.

Oh sorry, I misread the poll. It asks what you think will happen, not what you want to happen.

So the vast majority think Les is coming back. That doesn't mean the vast majority thinks Les should stay. I saw DC's post first and thought the poll was a different question.

Great point TAS. I voted that I believe there will be a new coach next season. I'm not anti-Jim Les. I've actually always been a fan. However, I am opposed to 9 years of mediocrity.

My position is well known but whatever is decided, I will support it and will always support BU and the Basketball Program----GO BRAVES!

Maybe they should fire the band director and cheerleading coach. :-P

The band had certain slots to play, WSU would play a chunk and then BU would. But WSU was playing when BU was supposed to, so they didn't get the usual amount of time to play.

But Dr. V isn't to blame, he's outlasted all the BU coaches since Versace :D

And talking about getting fans fired up is difficult when only about 20 fans were around the band while WSU had all of their fans around, behind and very close to their band.

The fact that one team is clearly better than the other doesn't help.

The poll asked what you think is going to happen not what you want to happen....BIG difference.

And (as instructed), I voted for what I think is going to happen...not what I would prefer to see happen.

My vote doesn't mean that I have unabashed support for JL...because I don't. However, I am a realist, and expect him to get another opportunity next season.

Oh ohhhh...band war... just play at the same time when in St Louis next year!:lol:8)

I think I'm going to run for public office. I can't make a decision. I can see both sides. I hate to see anyone lose their job but I can't see spinning our wheels and the car isn't going anywhere. Did Jim get dealt a bad hand this year with injuries? Yes he did but we were still pre season picks for 4th place and thats not good enough for being our head man 9 years. Would we have finished better then 4th? We will never know but as I sit here watching this tourney, we are not close to finishing with the elite in our conference if there is any elite. We have made some very poor decisions on who we have recruited and thats Jims fault pure and simple. I can live with one more year but it better be a good one .Nothing less then 1 or 2 in the conference, has to play on Sunday and either NCAA or NIT. Anything less and we thank Jim and all move on. Still glad I don't have to make the decision.

I voted that he'll be back, its just what I see happening. I don't want him back. But, after the improvement in the last few weeks and the team finally playing together and winning a few games I am not calling for his head either. (though the isu sweep was tough to take)

I don't see them buying him out now, and neither do I really care at this point. I just want us to win a lot more games next year, and hopefully nobody gets hurt. If he is the coach and gets it done, great, congrats. If not, and we win, thats great too, I'm still happy.

You know what? Maybe some here who voted that he will be back in reality don't want him back. But I still think the vast majority who voted in Les's favor actually want Les back. But we will see some posters here spin things to make it look like most don't want him back, which I think is far from the truth.

Okay, feel free to flame away! Tell me why I'm wrong! :D

I'm just concerned as to whether losing Drew and Dodie and gaining Taylor and Sammy back and new recruits makes us at least 8 places better and 12-14 wins better...

I would like to think we will be better because frankly, you can't go further down the drain than we did, but I really can't see us being that much better regardless of the talent we have coming in unless one of the three goes McDermott and plays his way to 1st team all conference...

And with Les and his playing rotations, I just can never see that happening...

That said, I guess what's one more year to tie up loose ends?

So basically what we are seeing here DC is that the anti-Les crowd who has dominated these boards over the past couple of years with their incessant cries to get rid of Les are not anywhere near as big in number as it seems....

all weekend long there have been between 80 (even at midnight) and 150 people online viewing and posting...
thus the board is as busy or busier than anyone would have expected -- and as busy as at this time in any other year...and here's why...

Many posters have PM'ed me and told me they enjoy and utilize the message board so much MORE when there isn't the constant negative tripe...
The NEGATIVITY that we have all seen and experienced was driving good and supportive Bradley fans away...
Please keep the board the way it is..

This is how I see things. We will have SM and TB replacing AW and DD (not sure yet if TB is officially coming back or not, but even without him, SM hopefully would be an even "trade" with AW). We then bring the rest of the core from this year back, who did an admirable job especially late in the season. So, with essentially the same team coming back next year, if we play like we did the last ten games at 6-4, we can multiply that by 3 and finish at worst 18-12, and probably 10-8 or so in the Valley, back to a more typical Jim Les year.

BUT with more depth coming in along with some great recruits, and one more year of experience for those coming back, I can see us winning an additional 4 to 6 games if everything falls into place. So I can see us finishing anywhere between 18-12 and 24-6, and between 1st and 5th, either way a lot better than this year.

Obviously most would desire the one outcome over the other, but we WILL be a lot better than 12-18 if the injury bug does not come back and bite us again. Hopefully if we do have injuries, this team will be better equipped to adjust faster than they did this year with more experienced players returning, depending on who gets hurt.

I certainly agree tornado! I'm doing my part, and hopefully others will continue to do their part too.
