Tennessee fired their head coach Donnie Tyndall 4 days ago, and Texas fired Rick Barnes 3 days ago.
Today, Tennessee announced they had hired Barnes as their new coach.

It always amazes me how some schools are able to bypass the supposed EEOC laws requiring the job be posted for 14 days, and they are able to make quick decisions without forming committees, making lists of candidates, or taking weeks to interview candidates, then cut their list to a few finalists, bring them onto campus, interview them again. then finally make a choice.
Good job by Tennessee. Rick Barnes is one of the good guys in coaching. He may not have won enough for the Texas people, but he has proven himself as a successful coach, who has high integrity and plays by the rules.
Check out his record at Texas. He has won 20 or more games 15 of the last 16 seasons, and has gotten to the NCAA Tournament 16 of the 17 seasons he's been at Texas, including a Final Four appearance in 2003, as well as two Elite Eight appearances, and two Sweet 16's!
His 17 year record at Texas is 402-180 (.691), and his Big 12 record is 186-94 (.664).

SIUE is down to two finalists

-John Brannen - who is currently the Alabama assistant under Anthony Grant who has taken over at Alabama as interim head coach - but Brannen expects to be replaced as soon as another head coach is hired.
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/03/alabama_interim_coach_john_bra.html

-Jon Harris - an Edwardsville native who is currently an assistant at Cal but has been an assistant under Cuonzo Martin for seven years at Missouri State, Tennessee, and now California.
Harris, like Brian Wardle, played for Tom Crean at Marquette, and also served as an assistant under Tod Kowalczyk at GREEN BAY!

Here is a bit of a "shocker"-
Bowling Green University just fired 1st year head coach Chris Jans. He took the job last year after serving as a top assistant under Gregg Marshall at Wichita State.
It appears it is not for his performance. Bowling Green had an unexpected and remarkable turnaround under Jans (they were 21-12 this past season) after the last 5 seasons under Louis Orr in which they failed to have a winning record.
It appears Chris Jans was fired for a conduct issue that has not been revealed yet.

very interesting considering how many people were throwing his name out as a top prospect for almost every position from the Bradley job to the Wichita job if Marshall bolted...

He was once an ISU assistant under Porter Moser

Here is more on the Chris Jans firing by Bowling Green-
http://deadspin.com/heres-the-ass-s...source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

The issue arouse out of some crass and offensive drunken behavior he displayed at a restaurant/bar. It was witnessed by a family who wrote a letter to the Athletic Director, and sent video of some of his actions.
Jans was fired "for cause", which would terminate his contract and mean BGSU would not be responsible for paying him any more.
I would expect Jans will challenge the termination "for cause" since a lot of money is at stake.
