Postgame Thread BU-74 MSU-56

Isn't he the one who said- "Better days are not ahead"

Seems he was wrong or at least a little overly-negative about that one.

Oh come on...after ONE win. The Braves looked great but his article and assesment were dead on as usual.

I said it before but I'll say it again....Ray Charles could see something was wrong with BU. Fact remains we have STILL blown 3 HUGE home games and until today showed absolutley NO signs of turning it around.

Today was a good first step but go to SIU and lay a big egg and where are we?

I'm cautiously optomistic we can turn it around but need to see more then one game, a game we SHOULD win at home, to prove it.

MAYBE his article was the motivation they needed......

IF BU wants to avoid negative articles that tell it like it is its simple.....play like they did today.

Finally had a chance to watch the game on-demand on bubraves.tv. THIS Braves team can do very well the rest of the season.

Egolf, Brown, Roberts...they really upped their level of play.

Wow ... I picked a bad game to miss on bubraves.com

Not to get ahead of myself ... but after taking the best team in the conference down to the wire on their home court and totally dismantling MSU who is in the top half of the league ... the Braves have the ability to go dancing after St. Louis. :-D

Correct. Basically KW is saying that talent is there, and has been there all year to play this way consistently. They haven't so...yeah...not sure where the inconsistency is in what he's saying. Either the talent is there and we've underachieved greatly, or we aren't that talented. Some on here want to have it both ways...I happen to think we're pretty talented...

Egolf, Brown, Roberts...they really upped their level of play.

seriously, if you'd have even asked Will Egolf's orthopedic doc how he'd be a year after the surgery...
you'd have been told, tentative, still learing to make lateral moves again, and he'd never have the spring nor the pivoting skills he had in the past..

But Will has come a long, long way...he is making moves that no kid makes at this point after such major knee surgery...
and like coach said...he's still a bit like a freshman...since he didn't play much at all in 2007-2008, and redshirted in 2008-2009, and went much of a year off the court unable to play..
so this is actually just the FIRST full season he's been able to have....
and he never really played the "5" in high school...so he's done great!
I hope he continues to get better....

Both Will and Andrew are looking much better than they did even early this season. I expect both to continue to get better. And Both will be back next year, too, and Will for 2 more season.

That was an interesting clearout play for Egolf. You knew something was up when three BU players were standing next to each other 25' from the basket.

I heard some people "down" on AW yesterday and even I was wondering where he was during the game but he didn't force things...OK ONE time he did and JL called him out on it but IMO he saw things were going well just played within the flow of the game.

I to was in agreement with KW's article. If you asked him about the comment that shows up several places on this thread."Better days not ahead" I'm sure he would tell you if we continue to play like we have the past couple of weeks that quote would be right on. Yesterdays game was exactly what we have been expecting to see this year. It was a total joy to see. A complete effort from the whole team. I think we knew this was possible but as dogs put it Ray Charles could see something was wrong. I think we are finally starting to figure it out. Oh one more thing , I have been accused of sticking up for the stripes more often then not. Yesterday I think we saw an example of why the league office don't want us to play on Sat . The good ones are working BCS games on Sat.

One game doesn't make up for 5 bad ones. I'll need to see this for the next 5 games to even believe we can put this kind of effort into a game on a consistent basis. That is just the reality of the situation.

I'm in agreement here. I'm ecstatic over our play yesterday but we need to see this effort night in and night out! The energy played on D was the difference. If I see this for the rest of the season and we still lose I'll be happy but I'm sure if we continue to play with that defensive and rebounding passion we'll finish in the upper 1/2 of conference play.

I also wanted to mention that I found it interesting what Egolf said in KW's article. He thought that the big reason Bradley struggled for so long was that some of the players felt that after the Illinois game, winning games would come easy for the team. I made mention of that on the chat today as well. I think some players got a bit cocky after that game and it's unfortunate it took so long to turn things around. It's still not too late for a turnaround though, and the last two games have been a good start.

I thought that comment was interesting too....Good grief...it takes several games to figure out you can't just show up and win?

Just got back in town and want to say, Way to go BU :!::D I missed the game, but I must say that I am not surprised in their big win after watching how they played against NIU:)

Get-them Dog:lol: I am in agreement with you:!: The way thing's were and appeared to be headed when he made his assessments, he could not of called it any other way or he would of been a lier:!: Some on here have a hard time saying and believing when It Is What It IS:eek::lol:

Yes and IF BU does indeed turn it all around KW will say "way to go BU"......

So wait, many on here said things would turn around, and they might be correct now, but got crucified? KW appears to be wrong but he was correct, because he assumed the same outcome would continue without looking ahead?

Using that logic the Colts, Vikings, and New Orleans, will each win the superbowl. If they lose, I'm still right, because I just assumed they'd have the same outcome, and all those who say they'll lose, are wrong and cant see the way things really are...

My post doesn't really make sense, but then again that's pretty much the point.

First off I don't think we have turned anything around.....we beat a team at home we should have. We were back to playing like many thought we are capable of playing for ONE wonderful evening.

As great as that is and as good as we played I think we need to see the next 4-5-6 games before we can call it a turn around or not.

Lets hope that happens THEN we can discuss the rest....

Yeah....1 game does not make a trend.

I agree but it does seem to me that JL's teams seem to get better as the season goes. I wonder if there is anyone here has the time to compile his record by months?

I didn't have the time, but I was procrastinating, so here goes. JL record by month.

(Results including 09-10 season in parentheses)
Nov 23-11 (27-13), .676 (.675)
Dec 27-20 (29-23), .574 (.558 )
Jan 29-35 (31-39), .453 (.443)
Feb 31-25, .554
Mar 15-13, .536
Apr 1-1 (Hehhe, that's you CBI) .500

So, not much to see there, except we're apparently bad in January. Stupid New Years!
