Here is a Valley Power Rankings from the Wichita beat writer....
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/951905.html

He's got BU 8th in the Valley and (not too unexpectedly) has the Shockers in the upper half.

Let me make a memo....Wichita has played the 2nd or 3rd weakest schedule in the conference so far, and just got done
barely edging Northern Arizona at home, a 1-8 team....shooting 2-16 from beyond the arc...
right now I doubt you can find much difference between BU and WSU, both very young and inexperienced.

oh, and by the way....Wichita shoots 65.4% from the FT line
Bradley shoots 66.2%

Here's another from the Pantagraph:

Valley predictions

Here is how Pantagraph sportswriter Jim Benson, who covers the Missouri Valley Conference, sees the league race unfolding (nonconference records in parenthesis):

1. Creighton (10-2): Sharp-shooting Booker Woodfox leads explosive group of perimeter players.

2. Illinois State (11-0): Redbirds out to prove lack of respect is a mistake.

3. Drake (9-3): Josh Young and the Bulldogs still dangerous and won??™t give up crown easily.

4. Evansville (8-2): League??™s most improved team must win on road to be legit.

5. Southern Illinois (5-6): Salukis need their freshmen to grow up in a hurry.

6. Northern Iowa (6-5): Matching up with 7-1, 290-pound Jordan Eglseder will be a chore.

7. Wichita State (6-5): Get ready for a defensive tussle when facing the Shockers.

8. Bradley (6-5): Losing Andrew Warren and Will Egolf too much to overcome.

9. Missouri State (7-4): First-year coach Cuonzo Martin has Bears sold on defense.

10. Indiana State (2-9): It will be a long, cold winter in Terre Haute.

But all of their losses are very close losses, and they were beating Georgetown and Michigan St. for a while, even though they shot horribly from the field and the line. Don't want to be negative to our team, but we got demolished by our ranked opponents when we shot poorly because of our defense - if WSU figures out how to shoot better, they will have a really solid team.

But, we have extremely similar schedules and results when ignoring the loss differential. I am not looking forward to next Wednesday; but a win at Wichita State would be a bigger win than the record might show, and would be a confidence booster for our young team.

the games are not all that different if you just look past the score alone....
Wichita did not play AT Michigan State nor AT Georgetown, but Bradley did play on both MSU's and Florida's home court, and BU was within single digits as late as the final 10-12 minutes vs. MSU and vs. Florida.

As for similar schedules, you are free to call 'em as you see 'em but the official Strength of Schedules is vastly different if you look at the experts.

realtimerpi.com says .......BU= 46, WSU 180
teamrankings.com says...BU=42, WSU 185

You're right with the schedules, but I just think, from watching WSU's defense those two games, they were in the game practically the whole game even at Georgetown, and didn't allow any large runs like we did, even if we played both games on the road. Even though our games might have been single digits, they (Florida, MichStU) easily pulled away and never allowed us to get closer. WSU's defense is pretty good, but their losses are mainly because of poor shooting, whereas ours is a mix of bad d and poor shooting. However, we have shown we can play good defense sometimes; if we play 40 solid minutes of good team defense against them and shoot a decent % from 3 and FT, we will win.

Here's how I ranked them for this week's poll. I never saw the results...

1. Illinois State
2. Creighton
3. Evansville
4. Drake
5. Missouri State
6. Wichita State
7. Bradley
8. Southern Illinois
9. Northern Iowa
10. Indiana State
