CI.com Mid-Major Top 25 - someone is noticing!

the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 is voted on by coaches, not news and sports media types...so they are a bit more informed...

Here is their Top 25 and it includes Bradley, as the 3rd highest rated MVC team.

God, I hate the moniker, MID MAJOR. I won't buy into it. It's just another backhanded way of keeping separation in D1 basketball.

Well, despite having the league's signature win this non-con and playing arguably the toughest schedule thus far, the folks at VT are still predicting a 6th or 7th place finish with more or less a 'meh' on our season thus far. I guess getting worked by Iona, losing to a bad DePaul team, or barely squeaking by St. Bonnie's were more significant than beating a ranked team.

Yet the schools and coaches buy into this BS by participating. I hate the media made up title and refuse to use it, but when non BCS school openly participate then I guess they accept what the media wants.
 
Last year, Xavier was voted the MM of the week and told them to "shove it". Xavier replied that there were not a MM. Classic. We need more thinking like this. But alas, too many of us fall into line and take what is given to us.
 
one site that awards such honors as MM of the week and MM player of the week...has mysteriously totally ignored one of the best MM victories of the season when BU beat Illinois...it's as if it didn't happen!

Just maybe they do not percieve us as a mid-major ala Xavier?:rolleyes:

People on this board, the school, and local media perpetuate the moniker of Mid-major by making such a big deal about things like beating The Illini. Do you think a high-major team's fans would celebrate such a win? No! Act like we have been there before because we have. We can't act like a mid-major (huge celebrations when we barely beat an overrated mid-level BCS school) and then expect to have others think we aren't.

When our predicted-to-finish-6th Bradley Braves beat the 20th ranked team in the nation, I'm going to celebrate! It's not something that happens every year, but yes, I guess we have been there before. I celebrated then too!

Oh yea - and having the chance and then beating Illinois is priceless regardless of the BCS/Midmajor talk! :twisted:

I was not to keyed up on the "big brother" comment though!
 
I noticed Western Carolina is right behind us on this list. I overheard Coach Buesher talk on my flight home saying that that game on the 7th will be a good test for us. Lets just take care of Northern first though
 
I enjoy beating ANYONE we play but to not enjoy beating the Illini a bit more is, well, just the way it is.

But like WE said...its over now and time to move on.

We are a D1 University that is classified as a mid major ONLY becuase of $$$$$$$$. I take it as a source of pride.....we have no where NEAR the resources of the BCS schools yet we prove time and time again we CAN compete.
