Arizona coach Lute Olson will no longer recruit "one-and-done players

Former Arizona signee Brandon Jennings' decision to play in Europe may have sparked a fundamental change of heart in coach Lute Olson.
Jennings, who wasn't certain to play for Olson, announced his intent to begin a professional career in Europe on Tuesday.....
"It's a situation now that if someone's a 'one-and-done,' we're not going to pursue them anymore, no way," Olson told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

It seems a little strange for Olson's to make this decision based on Brandon Jennings, since the kid couldn't pass the SAT and wasn't going to be eligible to play anyway. But his point guard last year, Jerryd Bayless also left for the NBA after just 1 year.
It sounds like he really dislikes the NBA's 19-year-old rule and how it brings out the greed in the kids, their parents, and the swarming agents.

4.9 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 3.0 apg......his scoring is 9th best on the team.
hitting 33% on FG's, and a not too impressive 20% on 3-pointers,
also he is only hitting 50% on free throws.
(he is averaging 17.3 minutes per game.
His team, Lottomatica, is tied for 4th in the Italian SerieA League, at 4-3.
(there are 16 teams in the league)

so....do you think the team is getting their money's worth...
they are reportedly paying Jennings $1,200,000 for this season, plus options for two more seasons, but an opt-out if he wants to enter the 2009 NBA Draft.
...plus he has a $2 million contract to promote Under Armour products...as well as a big shoe contract reportedly worth about $1 million per year.

With that kind of money, is it even worth it for him to go to the NBA? That's pretty much a lottery pick's contract, right?

Not sure exactly how it breaks down but I know DRose is making over $4million as the #1 pick and the guaranteed contracts go down progressively after each pick. I think POB's contract was pretty similar to what Jennings is making this year in Europe

no....the lottery picks are paid on this scale that's already determined through the collective bargaining agreement.

So unless Jennings was picked beyond the #17 pick, he would make more in the NBA, although some Euro contracts also include a bunch for living expenses, cars, housing, travel, etc...
