Back from the Red - White Scrimmage

... I saw plenty, maybe having to walk several blocks and spending extra time looking for parking,...

Parking is a non-issue T - so it wasn't that.

Thanks for the comments from last night (Gills was great). As a coach I got frustrated at scrimmaging against ourselves. It was always pretty ugly, but when we played outside competition, it was different. I am sure it was great to actually see the news guys in action. I think you will see a more fluid team when we play Thursday. Again.....thanks for the comments for those who could not get there last night........

GO BU!

ps...we have another lurker on the board...a customer came in to buy a car yesterday and they were huge BU fans and had not been to this site....so I introduced them to the site...welcome to Bradleyfans.com!!

wait a minute............
The players spent all evening doing PR work, signing autographs, and eating spaghetti, then had to stand around while the womens' game went way, way, way long because of all the stinking time-outs being called, then waited further for the introductions, dance routines, and jokes, then the players got a grand total of about 5 minutes to warm up, shooting ONLY a few layups during the warmups.

Then they were subbed in and out like lightning, nobody spent more than a couple minutes straight on the floor except DRuff, and a full quarter of the players out there were the walk-ons, plus each player was teamed on the floor with others that once the regular season starts, they'll never be teamed together on the floor at the same time (like Phillips and Thornton in the starting lineup with Crouch!!)
So all the comments about them not looking too impressive are fair comments...but with an asterisk.
Nobody there can doubt the fitness, athleticism, skills, and abilities of the main 6-8 players who are going to be our horses in the Valley race.

I can't believe all the fans can really expect every shot to go in! The kids were NOT given adequate chance to go through their pregame warm-ups, and all those other factors played a part, too.

again....really??
In what was likely only 8-9 minutes of play in a NON-starting role last night, Sam Singh had
NINE points and 7 rebounds, Austin posted up nicely a couple times, Collins had NINE rebounds,
and nobody really had many turnovers.....Ruffin leading in turnovers with 3, but Wilson, Egolf, and Austin had zero,
turnovers and Salley and Thompson each had only one.

I agree T and have handed down my own self imposed pentalty for my less than positive initial thoughts.

I am wearing red and white all day long and in honor of all the good defense played will be setting hard picks as people move around the house, I will be blocking out anyone trying to get to the fridge and am running laps around the couch till my feet have blisters.

Go BU.............

Do some wind sprints wile you're at it :)

Didn't say we DIDN'T look down low I was just surprised Collins wasn't doing that traditional back to the basket stance jumping from one side of the lane to the other asking for the ball. Again NO biggie as this was what appeared to be more of a run and gun show just to display what we had.

Agree DRU... I think the coaching staff is probably saving their plays and offensive sets
for the regular season.. no problem with that here. But we all have initial impressions. Again this staff has shown the ability to help a player improve throughout the year.
We'll see a little more with the exhibition games in the next few days.

Health is always an issue, but one thing we do have this year is depth especially down low. That said, Ruff or Jeremy getting hurt for an extended time could ruin our season in a hurry.

Dont know if this has been posted anywhere, but it was nice to see Bradley's new President Glasser at the scrimmage last night.

Hey don't blame us out-of-staters for reacting to the torrent of negative nellying going on here on this board last night. Hard to believe that Dave Reynolds was writing about the same event that posters were frothing about last night. Leave it to ER3 to ruin the meltdown with all kinds of LOGIC and REASON.

I would have been worried myself if I was out of town and reading some of the reviews last night. However, I do feel there has been a healthy mix of people that have not rushed to judgement as well.

Not blaming you at all Brocks... We are dealing with anticipation, expectation, and first
impressions.... It's only a scrimmage I know and I will stand by what I posted last night.
Just moving onward and upward to the exhibition games.

Two people can go to the same movie, sit right next to each other and come out with totally different reviews....see Siskel and Ebert. (yes I realize Siskel is dead)

We all just report what we saw. I didn't see much from the bigs. I was SURE to temper my thoughts with telling posters I'm not good at evaluating these situations.

Besides isn't it nice to get "different" views then decide from there?

After careful review and listening to other reports from individuals more qualified then myself I had a slight change of heart or at LEAST saw it from a different perspective.

I STILL contend I'm concerned about the low post but I understand that it may be concern NOT warranted due to a multitude of reasons others have given.

Now excuse me while I get back to my self imposed wind sprints around the couch for being so negative.....:)

Can GOOD reports also be a rush to judgement.....if some see negatives and others see positives who's rushing to judgement?

IF all reports were glowing would we be hearing the same "reprimands" ?
