Illinois State vs. SMU

ISU down 44-39 at the under 8 minute timeout. ISU, InSt and Evansville worry me a bit. These teams have to perform well for the Valley to move into that next level. I guess SMU is an okay team, but one that is beatable. Go Redbirds (for today at least)! :D

I think it is a Redbird 1 pt lead with SMU going to the line.

I keep losing the audio at the link I provided.

SMU wins 57-55. Tough loss for the Redbirds.

And on a tip in at the buzzer on top of that! The Valley can't lose games like that.

Better luck tomorrow night against Florida St! They'll need it there!

ISU will get better.
They are starting a lineup of Fortes (who has not played that much except the extreme end of last season), Dilligard, then three new guys (Dom Johnson, Slack, and Richardson.)
They will be more consistent by the end of the season and will pull some upsets.

I agree with that assessment.

Too bad to lose a close one like this for the MVC.

Wow, Boo Richardson 6 turnovers, 4 assists. Not what they need from him.
As a group, the ISU bench was 3-18 including 0-7 from Osiris Eldridge. The starters were 17-39.

Yep

Not much to say. A terrible performance by most on the team. Over 20 turnovers and only 10 FT attempts. That's what happens when you have zero inside game and only shoot from the perimeter. I'm afraid that's how it's going to go all season for them. This team has nothing in the paint offensively.

SMU IS NOT a good team. Tonight they play Florida St. and to be completely honest, I hope they keep it under 30.

Thanks DC, but ISU is very short on experience, and will have nowhere to go but up.
I think they have the talent to actually be playing on Friday rather than Thursday, but they will need to avoid the turnovers and select better shots.
If they want to keep it "under 30" then They need to focus on defense.
