UTRGV (University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley - the Vaqueros (Cowboys) - who some argued is racist & sexist) (yes, they are DI)
(also -- used to be Texas-Pan American (UTPA) and this is their first season as full DI - they used to be coached by Lon Kruger before K-State & Illinois)

University of the Pacific reportedly hoping to hire Memphis assistant Damon Stoudamire.
Stoudamire has not agreed yet, but is said to be leaning toward taking the job. However, the job at Portland (Stoudamire's home town) also just opened up today, so that may why he is delaying.

so they have hired an ex-NBA undersized point guard who has never had even a single day of head coaching experience at any level.....
 
This one is very strange- Wright State fires Billy Donlan

They were 22-13 and 13-5 and tied for 2nd in the Horizon league. He is an outstanding coach, and has had decent success at Wright State. Hard to figure.

But then sometimes coaches get fired for personal reasons. :roll:
 
wow - 20 or more wins in 3 of the last four years...
winning records both overall and in conference...just finished 2nd behind Valpo
just got done making it all the way to the Conference Championship game in the Horizon
two post-season appearances...
Donlon just two years removed from being Horizon Coach of the Year

Here's another shocker
Milwaukee just fired head coach Rob Jeter...

they had a decent, 20-win season this year and even beat big time in-state rival the Wisconsin Badgers!!

Most will recall that Rob Jeter was one of the top picks back in 2011 for the open Bradley head coaching job...
and even though it was a big step up, and the offer was nearly 3 times what Jeter was making at UW-M... he eventually turned Bradley down.

Sounds like their AD is losing fan support and the players are furious

the departure of Western Kentucky's Ray Harper is accompanied by suspension of 3 players and rumors of some bad news...
 
Delaware fired Monte' Ross - just signed a contract extension for 3 more years last summer..
the minority coaches in DI are taking a beating this spring...about a dozen fired so far ..

Delaware won the CAA just two years ago - went to the NCAA in 2014, have the best record in the entire conference over the past four years, and have some good players.
As you all recall, we went to Delaware back in December and got killed by them 70-49 -- LINK

but in this column from last year - there are racial overtones to the entire scenario
of whether Ross should have been retained, renewed, or fired..
