What is the deal on the assistant job?

I thought about making a sarcastic poll asking if people think we will hire an assistant coach or not. I realize it is not a huge hurry now that the signing date has passed, but I am confused on the length of time for this. I wish I knew what was happening on the assistant front.
 
We are waiting for Phil Jackson to finish his year up, so we can offer him the assistant job since he is on the market. :mrgreen:
 
Much of the athletic department staff is out of town this week- most at the MVC baseball tournament.
Maybe this hiring will happen next week.
 
The only thing I can figure out is they are probably not paying enough money or somebody would have been chosen by now, with all the transfers on the market it would have been nice to have a full time recruiter in place that has good contacts and snatch up one of better players.

Many transfers are still available, so there is a good chance a new coach could still help. Transfers don't sign LOI's the that doesn't matter much.

This is not the case at all. In fact, just about every candidate they interviewed is either not working right now, or making less than what the Bradley job would pay.

Coach---If what you say is true---Then what's the hang-up? If everyone they interviewed is not currently employed and was making less than the BU job pays, why havn't we hired someone? Is locating and hiring a second assistant a high priority or have we actually hired someone and are simply waiting for some reason to announce it?
 
If you are asking me- I can't answer your questions. I am just saying that I wouldn't expect an announcement to come when key people in the athletic dept. are out of town.

Those key people should be back pretty much today since the BU baseball team was the first knocked out of the tourney.

The beat goes on with that program.
 
I'm sure we'll have an assistant in place for summer recruiting. I'm not worried about it. I was hoping for Tracy Webster but it sounds like he's out of the picture. Based on our last assistant hire (Platt), I have confidence this one will have a solid resume as well.

On what basis are you excluding Tracy Webster? I have heard he is still a finalist.
 
I just thought I'd drag this up again and say I'm confused again. When coach Les said very soon I thought either one day or at the latest by the end of the week. I'm getting anxious again for some word on an assistant. If anyone knows anything but doesn't think it should be on the board please feel free to IM me. Thanks

I am much more concerned about getting MO on campus, involved with the program and in school.

But your concern is certainly valid.
 
The assistant's position is no longer listed under emploment opportunities on the BU web site. BU usually keeps a job listed until it is filled. So, if it is no longer posted, they may be done or very close.
 
JL typed one of his few smilies about a new coach soon, and he chatted about the NBA finals....

(Course I really did not lookup the order of those comments)
