Wade Knapp and Charlie Coley

I was interested to see that Knapp listed his final four as Mo State, Nevada, Witchita State, and Illinois State.

No mention of the Braves, he did take an official visit to Peoria. Maybe he forgot.

I wouldn't get all riled up about Coley. He was a good player, but I'm not sure he felt comfortable with a team that hoists up that many threes. He is an athletic kid who is very similar to Zack.

If Williams is in a Brave uni next year he will be a much better all around player than Coley.

I personally think JL should have passed on Collins and spent more time recruiting Knapp. Knapp has touch from outside and plays better on the perimeter. We are a perimeter team that thrived when we had five guys on the floor who could shoot.

Are you _____???? Pass on a 7 footer who has the chance to rebound and change the game on the defensive end for a big man that can play the perimiter? We thrived with 5 guys on the perimiter all the way to the NIT with a pounding in the second round. I would like to see the team make-up more like the year before, and apparently so does the coaching staff. :)

In a rare occurrence I agree with GTD on the direction of the team, while I'm not sure who is the better player, I think DC is much more valuable to our team as he is a post presence where Knapp is more of a face to the basket player. If Egolf and Singh come ready to play, in addition to DC and MS plus the new guy, we will be able to match up much better with Majors.

Here are a few clips--
Charlie Coley and Wade Knapp are college teammates at Dodge City Community College. Charlie and Wade took visits this past weekend and each liked what he saw on his visit to make a commitment.

Charlie Coley: (SO) 6-foot-7 (205) from West Palm Beach will be headed to Charlotte University next season. Charlie visited the Atlantic 10 school this past weekend. Coley made prior visits to Bradley, Illinois-Chicago and Florida International back in the fall.

Coley was a two-time all-conference performer for the Conqs. Charlie averaged 12.7 ppg, 8.7 rebounds and blocked 112 shots this season. Coley for his career scored 779 points and grabbed 573 rebounds and blocked 209 shots in 64 games.

"Charlie is a combo forward that's a freakish athlete," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.

"Charlie really liked the proximity and the high level of comfort he received at Charlotte," said head coach Brian Hoberecht.

Wade Knapp: (SO) 6 foot 9 (225) from Wakeeney, KS. Knapp took visits to Bradley, Nevada and Missouri State. Wade decided on after his last visit this past week to Springfield, MO he was heading to Missouri State.

The future Bear averaged 11.9 ppg and 5 rebounds this season. Knapp for his career scored 683 points and grabbed 368 rebounds for the Conqs. Wade was a 2nd team All-Conference Performer this season.

Let's be realistic here. Any scholly given out will be for at least 2 years and if they can't find someone worthy enough, I have no problem pocketing it and waiting until you get a legit player next year. I think they depth that they have for next year will be fine. As for a big guy, between all of them, someone will step up. I even think Singh as long as he learns to anticipate a little better with some additional playing time.

As for Coley going to Charlotte, we wish him the best of luck there. I see no reason to argue with anyone about what is going through a young kids mind when they commit. He saw something he obviously liked at Charlotte and hope he does well there.

You obviously have never seen David Collins play. If you think you are getting something even remotely close to POB then you are going to be suprised.

In the games I've seen him play I would call him a "project". I'm not saying it wasn't a good risk to take, but I wouldn't be suprised if Collins is a redshirt next season.

You can redshirt Jucos just like any other player as long as they haven't redshirted in the past. I have seen him play, and I have to be honest, I wasn't overwhelmed.

He may turn out to be great, I'm just not as psyched as everyone else. He was 7 feet and didn't even get a sniff from the Big Ten or Big Twelve. At one point only Arkansas State from the Sun Belt had offered. I hope he is wonderful, but I'm just not optimistic.

A lot of people saw POB play in H/S and were not impressed either...this staff knows how to get the best out of players! DC will be a great asset to this team....trust me!

we redshirted juco ej drayton. he had a monster season for us. so you can medically redshirt a 2 year players because they have 3 years of eligibility.

Yeah....that's one classy place down there. Hope CC enjoys himself.

please dont try to typecast the entire 49er fan base based on the comments of one niner. Unlike what a previous poster, braves4life stated, Charlotte is a great place to live, work, and go to college. And although NC is not caught up in "49er fever" (we are in ACC country you know) we are very far from the whipping boy he described, in both athletics and academics.

Good Luck in filling your remaining roster spots....and good luck next season!
I was only going on 50% of the posters I've seen around here from Charlotte. I was also thinking that I'd not only be ashamed, but very much surprised if someone from here decided to do the same thing on your board if things had turned out differently. Sorry if I offended you and as already mentioned....ChevEE showed the class that I would hope the majority of 49er fans represent.

I second your comments shaunguth.

For the classy 49 fans that I offended I apologize. I am just VERY passionate about Bradley U. and Braves basketball.

(but I meant most of what I said

 )

I agree. Good luck to CC and the Niners next year.

While I won't waste my time debunking these moronic ad hominem attacks, I'll point out that my SAT and GPA were both higher than the average for your school and the most important part of this thread: We got Coley.

If your athletes can read, write, and communicate with class and dignity, then why can you do none of the aforementioned?

Just like to point out that my SAT score is exactly 400 points above your 75th percentile(1160) and the important part of a program, WE WIN IN A GOOD CONFERENCE.

Sorry, this is not directed to the other Niners, just laughing1.

Bradley -- one of the most prestigious liberal arts universities in the midwest!
I tried to show class on here, and I will maintain that. I don't necessarily agree with the way "Laughing" approached debate on here an I really don't want you guys to think we are a bunch of jerks, because we're not. But I have to say B4L, comparing Charlotte and Bradley education-wise is apples and oranges... Bradley is a liberal arts achool. We have a liberal arts school with in our university. In fact we have several schools. You may be able to make such claims against our liberal arts school, but we also have schools of engineering, nursing, business, architecture, computing/information & education. I'm not getting into the pissing match between you and laughing. I am just pointing out the fallacy in the argument.

Hey ChevEE just so you know we are comprehensive university also. We have every school you do save architecture and the Industrial Engineering Program is 2nd in the nation...

ChevEE is probably the most humble of our posters on NNN. For those of you who were wondering laughing = eason49 on our board.

i do know our architecture, nursing, business, accounting and motor sports engineering are like the top majors at the school. MSE for obvious reason, seeing how we are located about 2 miles from Lowe's Motor Speedway.

I just looked this up in the Princeton Review of Best Colleges, so here it is for laughing--

For students admitted to Bradley--
Average SAT -- 600
Average ACT -- 25

For students admitted to UNC-Charlotte--
Average SAT -- 516
Average ACT -- 22
