Wade Knapp and Charlie Coley

People are welcome to post opposing viewpoints, but flaming (everyone knows what it is) and insulting posts won't be tolerated.

DC.....you would expect Charlotte fans to be happy after winning the Coley sweepstakes. Not surprised there have been a few on here today.

My advice.....the easiest way to make a flamer go away is to just ignore them.

Wow! This "laughing" guy is a real card

Let me give you some insight into how my state, North Carolina, feels about UNCC. Nobody in this state (outside of the UNCC students and unemployed alumni) know anything about UNCC or give a d@mn! To us, UNCC does not even exist! 90% of Carolinians couldn't tell you their school nickname or name one player on their team! In fact, I would compare how we think of UNCC to how Illinois natives think of UI-Chicago, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois and the like. You see, "laughing boy", no one in NC even knows your school or team exists. Your UNCC diploma is almost as worthless as your team in Tar Heel eyes.

I run a business and I would always put a UNCC grad behind the likes of Carolina, State, Duke, Wake, App. State, Davidson, Campbell, UNC-W, and several others. I view your school as a glorified community college for the blue collar kids that can not get into any of the above mentioned schools; a place where a kid goes to buy time from growing up and joining the real world!

You see, in Illinois (and particular in Peoria) Bradley, U of I, and SIU basketball is King! Illinois fans can appreciate a good education and good basketball. I doubt that over 10% of your student population would even be admitted into Bradley -- one of the most prestigious liberal arts universities in the midwest!

Your posts here just reaffirm what I thought when I visited your little NinerNation site -- many of your fans are rude and uneducated! You've proven me right by visiting and showing your @ss on our board. Now go home!!!!

(Oh, and to respond to your little dig at how many times UNCC has made the NCAA Tourney versus Bradley in the last 10 years. Who cares! Nobody in NC even knows this! In Peoria, Bradley has been and always will be King. You see, our players put on a good competitive show AND GRADUATE!!!! They can read, write and communicate with class and dignity. I'll take this anyday over a team and school that nobody knows about and, more importantly, NOBODY CARES ABOUT     )

While I won't waste my time debunking these moronic ad hominem attacks, I'll point out that my SAT and GPA were both higher than the average for your school and the most important part of this thread: We got Coley.

If your athletes can read, write, and communicate with class and dignity, then why can you do none of the aforementioned?

I tried to show class on here, and I will maintain that. I don't necessarily agree with the way "Laughing" approached debate on here an I really don't want you guys to think we are a bunch of jerks, because we're not. But I have to say B4L, comparing Charlotte and Bradley education-wise is apples and oranges... Bradley is a liberal arts achool. We have a liberal arts school with in our university. In fact we have several schools. You may be able to make such claims against our liberal arts school, but we also have schools of engineering, nursing, business, architecture, computing/information & education. I'm not getting into the pissing match between you and laughing. I am just pointing out the fallacy in the argument.

Great. I hope Charlie does well in Charlotte. We got David Collins, so I guess that makes it 1-1 recruiting-wise. Oh well.

Class and dignity? You have posted with very little. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

CheVEE, you're OK in my book. Hope to see you throughout the season.

Bradley is NOT a liberal arts school. It's a business and engineering school.

By the way, CHEVee, I was afraid we'd run you away, and your posts have been classy and you're welcome here in my book... I have no idea what the academic standards are at Charlotte and I will not comment on that becuase it has nothing to do with college basketball or where Charlie Coley went. I did however, need to correct an assertion that BU is a liberal arts school. Stop by now and again and let us know how Charlie is doing over there.

I ignore guys like laughing, and I wish more of us had because nobody came out of that exchange looking good.

Well thank you for clarifying it. Back to basketball talk... I think I had heard at one point that you guys didn't have anymore scholarships. Is that true?

We have 1 scholarship. Jeremy Fears, a highly-regarded transfer is no longer with the team. Attitude and personal problems have made continuing the relationship impossible. He's likely going to play at a lower-level school in Chicago next year as he works out his personal problems. If you ask most of the players on the team, they'll tell you 'Good Riddance'. So, right now we're left with 12 scholarship players, leaving 1 spot open. We were hoping for CC, but now we'll turn our attention to a couple of kids who were in town this past weekend (they're mentioned a few times on this board).

Yeah....that's one classy place down there. Hope CC enjoys himself.

please dont try to typecast the entire 49er fan base based on the comments of one niner. Unlike what a previous poster, braves4life stated, Charlotte is a great place to live, work, and go to college. And although NC is not caught up in "49er fever" (we are in ACC country you know) we are very far from the whipping boy he described, in both athletics and academics.

Good Luck in filling your remaining roster spots....and good luck next season!

Thanks casstommy.
I have visited your board a lot lately and I can tell the fans of Charlotte are a high class bunch who live and die by their team, like BU fans. Maybe us Bradleyfans are a bit surly since we would have like to see Coley play here. Good luck to Charlotte. They deserve a better year next year than this one turned out.

I think Bradley will be OK, especialy if the last of the unknowns, DeAaron Williams qualifies. If DW was a certainty, prehaps Coley wouldn't have gotten a lot of playing time here. And with 1 more scholarship, I believe JL will land another good player.

Hello Bradley Fans.

I'm one of the fans from Niner Nation.net. Congrats on your recent success in basketball and lifetime achievements in basketball as well. This year was kind of a down year for our program but i hope we come back strong next season. I think the coley commitment was huge. The guy has amazing abilities from what i've heard. Hope your team continues doing well. You all are welcome on our board anytime you would like. You guys are all really classy individuals. Hope you and the rest of your recruiting stages go well.

Their roster page shows 6 seniors who would be leaving. I am not sure how many of them were scholarship players, or if they have any redshirt players who are not listed on the roster page.--
http://charlotte49ers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/ncch-m-baskbl-mtt.html

Plus they had 2 underclass players leave.--
http://charlotte49ers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/032807aaa.html

E.J. Drayton - 3 year JuCo transfer *redshirted for knee problems graduated this season our double double guy
DeAngelo Alexander - 2 year transferee from Oklahoma U. graduated this season had games of god like status but wasn't secure with his shot at times.
Courtney Williams - 2 year JuCo graduated never produced anything
Antwan Coleman - 2 year JuCo graduated massive body inside had a few high light games
Jerrell Jamison - 2 year JuCo graduated after the syracuse game was a monster for us on defense

Walk On: Travis Gordon 4 year walk on nick named GPA for obvious reasons majored in Engineering

I was interested to see that Knapp listed his final four as Mo State, Nevada, Witchita State, and Illinois State.

No mention of the Braves, he did take an official visit to Peoria. Maybe he forgot.

I wouldn't get all riled up about Coley. He was a good player, but I'm not sure he felt comfortable with a team that hoists up that many threes. He is an athletic kid who is very similar to Zack.

If Williams is in a Brave uni next year he will be a much better all around player than Coley.

I personally think JL should have passed on Collins and spent more time recruiting Knapp. Knapp has touch from outside and plays better on the perimeter. We are a perimeter team that thrived when we had five guys on the floor who could shoot.
