Transfer portal news

another portal guy with a Bradley mention, Prince Aligbe

big bodied 6-7 kid originally from Minneapolis, was rated 4-Star and considered by many the best player in Minnesota.
Went to Boston College in 2022-23 (played for Jim Molinari) & started 24 gms, avg 6ppg, 3rpg in between injuries.
In his 2nd year at BC, dropped down a bit in the rotation and only avg 5ppg.
Then transferred to Seton Hall and avg 8ppg, 3.6 rpg. Prob looking to get away from basement dwelling teams.

He could be what we need and would flourish in the MVC. One other guy on the Seton Hall roster is Yacine Toumi,
who was doing well in the MVC at Evansville (11ppg, 6.5rpg, 54% FG%) then went to Big East last place Seton Hall
and in 2024-25 did absolutely nothing.

Prince Aligbe is the brother of SIU freshman forward Rolyns Aligbe.

Peoria hasn't been Adam Miller's home for the better part of a decade. He was at Manual as a freshman in 2016-17, then at Chicago Morgan Park for 3 years (2017-2020). He spent a year at Illinois (2020-21), two years at LSU (2021-2023, includes a redshirt year), and two years at Arizona State (2023-25).
Here are his college stats - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4432175/adam-miller

I'm sure our coaches have reached out, but it seems like a long shot.

Rumor is that he might end up back in Champaign.

Coach, After reading the Article on BU landing A.J Smith, the article talks about a comparison to J.Henry. plus the article states, AJ. May be even better! I understand we need a strong forward for Rebounding/ toughness inside. What I'm wondering now is that exactly what Coach Wardle looks at in the portal? I mean with over 2,000 players, BW must Narrow his Portal Hunting! I think he looks for 3 star or maybe a 4 star thats originally from close to BU's home. Edwardsville is close to home for A.J. so it appears a great fit! My guess is there are other portal players originally from Illinois who want to come home! I'm guessing that's BU's best chance to land quality transfers! Now let BW prove me wrong and land a talented portal player(s) from outside the Midwest!

You are probably right that a kid who has ties to Illinois is a bit more likely to consider Bradley. But I think that is not the top priority in contacting portal players. Coach Wardle has always kept his recruiting intentions mostly secret. He has said he is looking for a big man or two, and another shooting guard or wing that can score. So it's just my guess that with the remaining available scholarships, we'll see a more typical "5" type of player, another big forward who can add scoring and rebounding, and another guard or two who can score from outside, and for depth. He knows that you can't win the MVC without shooters.

I agree. Coach will try to solve his deficiencies on his team first. If the kid is from the area that is just a plus. With the remaining scholarship's I wonder if he might pick up a decent high school kid and let him develop

Any word on if CD got an extra year granted, and if so, has anyone shown interest in him in the portal? I couldn't find him even listed on the site that I searched.

numerous players who played at DII are now entering the portal- no word if any action or decision is forthcoming.
Isaiah Swope from Saint Louis, and even a former MVC guy Lu'Cye Patterson, who played FIVE full years already
(2 at Missouri State, 2 at Charlotte, and this past season at Minnesota) and yet apparently thinks he can get another year.

Next ruling on the NCAA is that there won't be any limit to how long someone can play college ball. I'll see you on the court, Yoda! We'll be suiting up, soon!

One of the CBB pundits has indeed hinted that there may be another softening of the NCAA rules on eligibility limits - thus players whose eligibility appears to be ended are going in the portal just in case the ruling comes before next season starts. If not, then their agents are already working on pro options.

Actually I could see some court cases related to this concept. Why exactly does the NCAA get to limit a player's eligibility? What happens if the P4 split off from the NCAA? Can they sign players to 10 yr contracts? Things could really really change.

well that would take a big, new change in the rule because - you know - currently the rules
ONLY allow them to make money from "Name, Likeness and Image" - like t-shirts and autographed photos... ;)

As I have previously posted, this is allegedly going to be in the settlement that is coming. Deloitte will determine fair market value of services for NIL purposes, and the schools will pay the athletes.

Review of the transfer portal since 2019 showed that about 65% of all players in the portal either transferred down or didn't find another school.- https://x.com/RossDellenger/status/1913242642529255764

Though a few players are using the portal to enrich themselves, or to find more playing time or a better situation. The majority of players seem to be getting hurt by the portal.

According to an article I just read, UNLV & Sanfrancisco have the top 2 mid major portal classes. No MVC school made the top 20. Of Course this is the writers opinion. No one really knows how each teams portal players will work out. We play at Sanfrancisco this year, so that should be a tough game on the road to win or even be close. I thought Murray State brought in some good 3 star portal recruits, but they weren't mentioned. However, in the Valley, I believe Murray State is regarded as having the top portal class.

Here's that ranking - LINK
Maybe they don't classify the MVC as mid-majors, because I seriously can't figure that all those teams did better than every MVC team.

who did San Francisco land that is way better than our guys? Their guys may be solid DI guys, but I am not blown away with any of them. None were Top 1 or 2 scorers/producers on the teams they came from.
Their most highly touted portal guy has already been at DI for two years and has scored 33 TOTAL points
with 14 rebounds in 29 games.
Their other guys came from PItt/averaged 5.5 ppg, Rhode Is./7.4 ppg & Portland/averaged 10.5 ppg
