Transfer portal news

even though the Transfer Portal closed a couple weeks ago - two exceptions are that if the school had a coaching change, a player can still enter the Portal after the deadline, and so can grad transfers.
This is the case with a few new entries into the portal the last couple days, altho none that I have seen recently raise any interest at all...
One article I saw cited that around half of the 2000+ players in the Portal have found new schools, but still half are still hanging out there.

But there is one in WBB that definitely would make any "All-Name Team"

One more thing- NCAA has a Portal transfer tracker - https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2022/4/...vision-i-student-athlete-transfer-trends.aspx

It isn't updated to include 2025 transfers but if you sort for men's basketball for last year 2024, the most recent year data is complete,
then you find that
- by the start of the following year, 72% of entrants in the Portal will find a new school, 6% will withdraw and 22% will end up nowhere and NOT find a new school.
-almost 20% ended up transferring down to DII/NAIA or not on scholarship elsewhere.
- we are definitly on track to smash those numbers with so many players in the portal getting very little interest. Some predict the number left
stranded with no offers and no new school to play at could be 40%.
This site says only 51% of the DI players in the portal have signed with a new school, but I think that number is way too high. Note they say only 1,119 players are in the Portal, when we know it's well over 2,000.
