The last scholarship

How should we use it?

I'd like us to use it for a pure scorer at this point. Yes MO would be great but if not then with AW, SM and DD going we'll need a slasher/scorer the following year. TB has another year and MK seems more like a perimeter guy, JE and DSE love to go to the rim but I'd prefer another TW/TB/Boogie clone. With SH taking the other scholarship we should be fine the next 2-3 years with our bigs, if they all play up to their potential. The athletic forward type does extremely well in JL's system.

WE
AD
AT
JP
MK
SH - The following year

I believe our back court will be solid for the foorseeable future and another guard recruit for the 2013 year would be great. I say a 6'6" slasher/scorer is what I want.

By JH, do you mean Sean Harris?

We need Coach Corn to come through for us with another incredibly athletic Boogie/Zach type of player. TW & then CB picked up that athletic mantle, BU has had some athletic 3's the last 6-7 years or so.

I want M.O. to be our last recruit, I feel he can step right in and help us win big. I just think it is about time BU gets some good news as far as this player because we have had to overcome way too many obstacles the last several years because of academic issues or injury problems.

After next season Bradley loses 3 key seniors- AW, SM, and DD, who are all good shooters. We need to recruit more shooters to replace them.

I agree. Unfortunately from past expeience there is a good chance someone will be gone next year (The year AW,SM,DD leave) and we will have another scholarship to use on a shooter.

Stewart, Eastman,Simms-Edwards and Lemon plus Milos who is a good outside shooter gives us 4 guards and a shooting forward, we just need to recruit 1 more guard with the only scholarship we have for next year unless we end up losing someone.

I've been preaching defence for a long time and want to get a stopper, a guy we can count on to guard the other guys top player. But, good defensive player are hard to find and I know that. I guess if we cannot get one I would like to see us get a player who can create his own shot, someone who is exciting to watch and can get the fans into the game. Someone you have to double team and can get open looks for other player.

Wait, it's easier to find a guy other teams have to double team, who can create their own shot, exciting, etc. than a strong defensive player? Maybe you should be our recruiter...

I could be very wrong with this statement, but I think with the signing of AD, MO is not coming to Bradley.

Very much agree DC.

We still need a muscle-guy in the middle to bang with other Valley bigs - if we don't get MO, we're set up for the same problems as last year with rebounding and 2nd chance points.
We need someone who can stop Durley, Stutz, Carmichael, Lawson Jr., Teague. WE does a nice job sometimes, but tends to foul and doesn't bang enough.

This is what I have been saying.

At this point if things go as planned, we have one scholarship this year and one next year. I would really like a guy like MO to be a big beefy guy down low, but I think getting a shooter ready for the year after next year is most important. Between JP, WE, AD, AT, MK, TB, SH the next few year we should be able to develop one of them into a "big banger" type. I'm hoping JP will eventually be this. So if we don't end up with MO, I think a shooter should be our first priority for this year. If we do end up with MO then I think we need to try and get a shooter that will be able to step in day 1 the following year.

Like I said I still want MO too, but I really think we need a sharp shooter with one of the 2 scholies reamining over the next two seasons so I'm torn because it will be tough to find one that can step in day 1 if we wait til next year to get one. I'm sure JL will figure it out.

I am afraid if we don"t have a center that can defend and rebound next season that we will be looking for a new coach .

That's what I'm thinking too.
No chance we make the Big Dance giving up so many 2nd chance points and letting the Bigs get such good looks. A guy like MO may not make a huge difference in games next year, but at least in practice, he would be good to toughen up JP and WE and prepare them for in-game battle.

Although I see your point DC, of those three the only player who arrived with the rep as a "shooter" was AW, the other two were known as "scorers". Both have improved their strokes to the point where we consider them both shooters. I think that both DSE & JE have the capabilities to become those types of players. Strange part is that AW kinda became more of a scorer last year than a perimeter shooter. Would love to find a 6'5" JC clone & if he had a little bit more athleticism all the better.

I guess my point is that we really don't know how good MO is? We really haven't seen MO. I think that JP will contribute this year and dare I say we can go big with JP and either AD or WE in the lineup at the same time.
