There are reports that Marshall University head coach Tom Herrion has been fired
...they have two extremely good freshmen - one being their top scorer, point guard Kareem Canty
...16.3 ppg, 5.5 apg.

but a NY Daily News story says powerful and wealthy Indiana boosters are looking to buy out Tom Crean and possibly hire soon-to-be-fired New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson

it was previously reported that Crean is signed through 2020 at somewhere between $2 - 3 million per year so it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $10-12 million or more to buy out his contract.

Again I find it amazing that some Division I Athletic Directors can fire a coach one day, and literally within a couple days they have their new coach hired. No 14-day advertisement posting necessary (we were told this was a requirement to meet EEOC rules), no search committees, no $75,000 Search Firms, and apparently no interviewing minorities (especially after firing a minority and hiring a recycled old white guy).

Amazing how efficient it can be some places! I wonder if Jesse Jackson will get involved like he seems to whenever an Illinois college fails to hire a minority?
 
this is a contrast to the last time Auburn hired....
it was practically all about race in 2010 and getting a Black head coach was paramount...as I recall articles saying the time was right for hiring an African-American head coach, and that it would help with landing the top recruits, and their main target was to try to get an Anthony Grant-clone....
This time around they just wanna win and see proven winners like Calipari, Larry Brown, Alford, Matta - instantly turn around their programs...
