Scott Sutton turns Bradley down

cannot possibly be JL -- as he is under an agreement that prohibits him from discussing this in any way --
did you not see Coach Les' appearance on the Comcast Sports Center?? It was almost eerie how widely they steered from any discussion that had to do with coaching or Bradley -- never even mentioned it...and of course nobody has even heard JL speak once about this entire thing since Sunday, March 6.

No I didn't see it. Sorry, but I'm still not seeing why these people are turning down the Bradley job. You are saying it is during the interview process...which yes would eliminate JL. On the other hand, even though he isn't allowed to talk about it, if a coach calls him, which I thought YOU said is happening, he would tell the truth......?

If it is during the interview process...I was under the impression that they were only going through the search firm...which would hopefully not make any of the candidates want to stay away....so I truly have no idea. If they are meeting Glasser and she is discussing what type of coach she wants and what type of system then I could see it, but again I say I wasn't aware candidates were even meeting Glasser.

there were thing the last time BU hired a coach that caused some to withdraw.......so it does apparently happen

Yeah..honestly all I want is a straight answer. What is so unappealing about the Bradley job?

Pro-Buadmin can speak up and anti-buadmin can speak up...what is going on?

How can the position of bradley basketball's head coaching job be so undesirable just because of JL being fired? There has to be more to it, and I want to know what it is. So JL got fired, yeah maybe he did deserve another year (which I openly admit I am one that thought he deserved more than just another year) but if you are truly honest with yourself the results weren't THAT staggering over the 9 years to where a new coach should feel like his job is unstable here..so that can't possibly be it. What is going on "during the interview process"? Enough has been said on this board, I think, to where it is okay to just come out and say it.

The people who support the administration (or at least are willing to give them a chance) are being censored here.

In my opinion, the JL buddies are waging an anti-JG campaign because she did her job by taking steps to move on and create what will hopefully be a winning basketball program.

Disagree slightly with some statements here. I can honestly state that I see the argument to fire JL. However, I can honestly state that there is a lack of professionalism that currently exists on the Hilltop which I and others, find very concerning:!:

Again, realize that this may be factually true, yet it doesn't mean a candidate wasn't approached about the Bradley job or even turned it down-
Because Bradley has employed a search firm, it's possible that they have contacted some candidates on behalf of Bradley and gauged their interest. A candidate might have decined interest without ever having "a single conversation with anyone at Bradley, let alone interviewed for the job."
In fact, it is almost a certainty that this has happened with some candidates, possibly Giacoletti, as it is what the search firms do with the money they charge.

Ok, but what about the rest of his quote where he says "That's totally false." in regards to the report that he turned the job down?

Perfect example of what I'm talking about!

Please expand on that.

"However, I can honestly state that there is a lack of professionalism that currently exists on the Hilltop which I and others, find very concerning"....such as?

I support the administration's quest to find the right coach for the job. I am willing to give them a chance. I hope the right guy is out there.

I will not get into specifics on a message board. All I can say is...

Vive la r?©sistance

Maybe candidates look at the BU job as a career killer. Albeck and Mo never recovered from the firing. I remember hearing similar comments about why some wanted to steer clear of the Cubs manager job.

there are reports that Mizzou is putting things on hold and will wait and talk to Shaka Smart -- rumor he's their #1 target

Hmmm..didn't they base much of that front page column on the exact same internet sports site that so many criticized and trashed here yesterday?

Hmmm... don't you trash the Journal Star regularly?

I questioned the information, and I would hardly consider that trashing. Posting 3 links of the same information doesn't increase the credibility of the SINGLE source. The PJstar used "according to a source close to the Sutton family." not Sports by Brooks. They may be the same source, but I saw no mention of that from Sports by Brooks.

KW wrote this recently:

"A little insight to how this info process works: All over the country, reporters have sources (and national writers, by the very scope of their jobs, tend to have more), and many of those sources are coaches -- heads and assistants. Those guys talk back and forth across the country to each other all the time. For the most part, they all know who everybody is, but they don't all know each other. They do talk, though. And they are incomparable gossips. What you have to be careful of when you talk to one is how to discern what he knows for sure from what he has heard and thinks he knows. So the same guy can be dead-on accurate on one thing and half a world away on another -- AND be convinced he is gold on both."

I'm pretty skeptical on information after reading KW.

The post comparing Bradley to the Cubs should be deleted. It clearly violates several board rules - offensive, personal insult, etc.

Well and the point is, unless someone flat out comes out and says why they don't take a certain job (which rarely happens), we just will never really know why guys pull out...could be a multitude of reasons really...

That said, I'm kinda taking everything I hear very lightly because we don't know the reality from the Memorex at this point.

The people that I have talked to who in the past have inside info, have none. They speculate, but really seem to be being kept out of the loop.

I would guess that there might be less than 5 people that know what is going on in real time.
