Scott leaving

If there was a problem between Geno & Willie, Willie needs to go. All the criticism of the administration could very well be warranted, but in my mind this has to be a Geno/Willie issue.

If there were any sort of issue, why wouldn't he be leaving immediately? He is sticking around and working/recruiting until October 1st.

Maybe Willie has a personal reason for wanting to go back to Chicago, focus on his business, and remain involved in coaching....

Lose the tin foil hats guys.

Everything is not a conspiracy......I think it's all legit...if not I don't see Willie staying to recruit this month when he's leaving in October.....otherwise they wouldn't have announced until then.

I would agree and if there was a problem between WS & GF he wouldn't be sticking around for a month-his desk would already be cleaned out.
Anyone in business know that you do not keep a disgruntled employee around to talk to your customers.
Good luck to Willie-we will miss you but I hope you have success in turning a small school around or at least makeing a difference in the lives of these young men that you come in contact with.

OK -- moving forward - this is a chance to hire a guy that can be a real difference maker...able to recruit well in Chicago!

Take a guess as to how many assistant coaches Bradley has had since the year before the Sweet 16...
Greg Graham, Jaden Uken, Willie Scott, Cole Pittis, Pat Beilein, Jeremy Crouch, Kyle Vogt, Jim Platt, Alvin Brooks, Eric Buescher, Steve Merfeld, Chuck Buescher, Lennox Forrester, AlB...

not one really had ties to Chicago.....except Willie

If you want to recruit Chicago well, then you need Ben, Ulysses, Andrew or Alexander as your coaching short list.

Someone mentioned Donnie Boyce. I REALLY LIKE that choice. He is connected to so much talent and proved he can coach. 2nd place last March to the best recruited team in Illinois and that may include the College teams.

I wish him nothing but the best! He is truly a great Brave for that he has done and represented our institution.

On the new assistant, well there are a few pretty good players out there that need a home and I wonder if pulling a Kansas would be out of the question.

He's the guy that I would have a conversation with.

Donnie Boyce did an impressive job at Proviso East last year, but he has no college coaching experience, and only 1 single year as head coach at the high school level. And I am not sure he is very connected to the Chicago Public League coaches or the Chicago AAU scene, I can't find where he's ever had any involvement with them. Does anyone know if he has his college degree?
I think the job will go to Coleman if he wants it. :)

Good point regarding whether or not Boyce has his degree. I hadn't given it consideration. However, he does have three years of experience as an assistant coach on his resume' (two season in the NBDL, and 1 year at Triton College).

As far as connections go, with the amount of talent that comes through Proviso, I would be very surprised if he didn't have AAU relationships.
