Bears 2-0 27-20 over Dallas

The radio announcer just said it sounded like there were more Bears fans at the game ;)
Cutler with a 136.7 pass rating.
Now we get a Monday Night game at home next! - We'll get to beat Green Bay

Does anyone remember what the Bears preseason record was the year they won the Super Bowl. Was it 0-4, not sure.

WOW...that was fun....the Hester catch for a TD was fabulous......maybe this O' will come around and really score pts on a regular basis! Would still like to improve the run game and the D' needs some sacks! But I'll take the W!

Though some sources I could find do say the Bears went 0-4 in the 1985 preseason, I think that is wrong. Reliable sources say they went 1-3.

Final: Bears 27 Dallas 20

What an enjoyable game for Bears fans to watch!
Last year there was quite a bit of criticism of Jay Cutler, but this year he has been impressive. I can't recall a Bears quarterback for a long time who looked this good and hit his receivers consistently.

By the way- if female reporters really want to be taken seriously, then they need to quit saying stupid things like Pam Oliver just did in her post-game interview with Jay Cutler- she commented on Cutler's dental work, "nice teeth!".

I guarantee there is no male sports reporter alive who would have made that inane and embarrassing comment. Fox, please get rid of Pam Oliver.

That's ironic because she(Pam Oliver) was putting Lance Briggs on the spot in a pre-game interview. Speaking about Briggs's comments about women in the locker room. Then she goes and does that. Funny!

I agree, but don't bet on it.

DA BEARS now 3-0

DA BEARS now 3-0

OMG !!! , I get backs from watching a great Bears game, at a friends home, and there's not one mention on this site of the Bears great victory. There are no true sports fans here... ;)

Since you've been busy yapping and quoting each other in that other thread, I'll fill you in.... DA BEARS beat the Packers 20-17 in a very exciting game. But I bet you couldn't take your eyes off that other thread.

I'll spell it out for you -

HESTER AND

URLACHER

This should be just a brief intermission for you, get back to that other thread and keep bashing or whatever it is...

Sorry, I went to bed after the game. But it was a fun game to watch. And Cutler again looked like one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

In case other fans went to bed after the game and didn't see this story, one of the packers' players got into an altercation with fans after the game-

OMG -- the Packers' player claims he was provoked by naughty cheers coming from the Bears fan!!
If that was sufficient excuse, then we'd have a free for all at every game.

And Cutler again looked like one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Really? In the game I watched Cutler threw one bad interception. He also had 2 interceptions reversed on penalties. One of those the penalty had something to do with the interception, one did not. He threw two other interceptions that were dropped by pro-bowler Nick Collins.

Could have easily been another 5-interception game. To me he looked like one of the luckier QBs in the league...

1 bad interception....that's it.
As you know, the other 2 "interceptions" reversed by penalties don't count. One was due to the viscious hit directly to Cutler's head, which caused him to underthrow the pass, and the other was directly because of the most obvious pass interference call I've seen in a long time, that drew flags from 3 different officials.

You may not like Cutler, but he is the #3 rated quarterback in the NFL, ahead of superstars like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and others. He also has only 2 interceptions in 3 games despite having one of the weakest set of receivers in all of football.-

The helmet to helmet hit occurred after the ball was released.

By your logic, if a major league pitcher recorded 27 outs on balls caught by the outfielders leaping over the fence to save homeruns - you'd say the pitcher pitched a great game.

Or when ISU misses 15 wide open 3-pt attempts, you could say the defense was superb.

Or if Cutler was 10-30 with 20 drops by his WRs you'd say he had a bad game.

I actually like Cutler - I just don't think he's amongst the elite QBs. And I don't think he played that great last night. Stats can be misleading - especially with a 3-game sample.

Believe what you want, but the quarterback rating system takes numerous different things into account, and he is close to the highest rating in the NFL. If it is so misleading, why are most of the top guys at the top of this year's list, and most of the rookies and bad quarterbacks are at the bottom? But then again, it could be all due to a massive string of luck.

I could say the same thing about your logic- You would say- Yes' Albert Pujols may have had another great season, but I am not sure he's any good because he might just go 0 for his next 50 at bats. Or that Tom Brady may have had a good several years, but maybe he might never win another game. The fact is that Cutler has excelled before at Denver, and is doing it again with the Bears, despite having about the weakest receivers as any quarterback in the league.

As I said, he is doing it without any semblance of a running game, and probably not a single receiver who will get votes for the Pro Bowl. In fact, most of the Bears receivers would have trouble making any other team's roster.

And from what I saw, the blow to his head occurred as he was completing his release, and definitely caused the underthrow.

You're right about the QB rating system - it's a good objective way to compare all players. But the system penalizes Rodgers and other QBs for a hail mary interception at the end of the 1st half. And it didn't penalize Rodgers or Cutler for their throws that should have been intercepted. Like most statistics, it has its flaws.

Consider that Jay had the following starting positions:
GB 44
GB 46
CHI 43
CHI 40

I just don't think a QB who engineers one touchdown from an average starting position of the 36 played like an elite or top-tier QB.

Still early in the season - lots of time to make me a believer.

Video of the altercation will be available sometime this morning-

The local Milwaukee Fox TV channel which claimed to have video of this altercation and would air it Tuesday morning, has not yet posted the video.
They not have stated, "NFL rebroadcast rules prohibit FOX6Now.com from posting video of the incident on our website or any other."

Nick Collins has publically apologized, and claims he was spit on and called a racial epithet (the "N" work!). But there is nothing yet that substantiates his claim. The NFL is looking into this incident.

the early reports that he threw "a roll of tape" at a Bears fan are now being amended -- and Collins is admitting it was his mouth guard that he removed and threw into the stands at a fan...

Say what??? The guy's mouth guard is soaked and saturated with his spit and all the germs in his mouth since that's where it had been for the previous three hours!!!
if anyone has committed a legally punishable offense here -- it's Collins...
This would be tantamount to spitting on someone else, which nowadays is considered a serious assault and/or battery......
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/103975324.html

Keep in mind, that it was initially said that Collins was reacting only to words spoken by a Bears fan that Collins found objectionable..

But now, the Milwaukee media is ratcheting up the story and amending it -- they are now claiming that the Bears fan came down out of the stands, used racial slurs, and spit on Collins...
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/103975324.html

now I guess none of may ever know the truth...but how come the story has changed so dramatically -- and how come the Milwaukee media outlet that claimed to have video to back up these allegations, still keeps giving excuses and still has not shown supposed video to anyone else and has not posted it??
I suspect it's because there is no such video...time will tell......as the ONLY video released to this point shows only the actions of Collins throwing his mouthpiece, and nothing that shows anything any fan did.
The only people backing Collins' story are the kiss-a** Milwaukee press and the Packers people.

Basically what this reminds me of is this incident...when Charles Barkley lost his cool, spit into the stands and hit a little girl with his spit...
http://sports.jrank.org/pages/270/Barkley-Charles-Dominant-Rebounder.html

how come the story has changed so dramatically

Occasionally, after a story initially breaks, more details become available.

I'm sure there were no drunk Bears fan at the game that would even think about spitting on a Packer player or using racial slurs EVER. Of the thousands in attendance, I just cannot imagine it would be even possible

It was probably an ISU/Bears fan.

so
"we have video of a Bears fan spitting on Collins"

changes to
"We do not have such video"...
.......because more details are available??

I was talking about how the story could change.

Just doesn't seem logical that a player would whip his mouthpiece into the stands without being provoked. Even Ron Artest had to be hit with a drink before he went after the fans.

provoked?? :-o

have you ever been to a pro sports event?? There's taunting and insults hurled by tens of thousands of fans non-stop...if it is license to assault a fan, then I guess we'd have multiple Ron Artest-like brawls in every game..
I have even seen and heard some of same at college games -- indeed I have even had the fans of one opponent Valley team spit on me and my guests while we sat silently wearing BU attire to their venue...and I didn't respond in a like-manner as a bunch of hooligans (or animals) might do, but then some people can control their idiocy and aggression...
