Red-White River Jam Updates

I'm not sure I've ever seen a basketball season at BU that needs a winning season more than this season. I am sure I've never seen morale this low. When the men's soccer team is even having a losing season you know bad karma is surrounding the sports programs. I appreciate the effort that Bobby Parker is giving to this site. At least it appears that he at least cares about our opinions, unlike certain people who shall remain nameless.

BP - again, not trying to offer anything except perhaps suggestions....

but we are only five days from the riverfront Red-White - and I bumped into several long time BU fans & season ticketholders at church and not one had seen nor heard a thing about this event.
Just saying - that if the only place it is mentioned is the BUBraves.com web site, then the vast majority of folks over 50 will never see a thing about it.

A postcard is going out to all season - ticket holders, but today's holiday will hold it up a day. I have made 3 appearances on radio, it was reported in PJ Star, our ads in PJ Star have included the info, we are working on morning radio and TV talk this week and it is appearing on our billboards. The postcard also was available in multiple copies at all the tables at Thursday's ISC Smoker, with a reminder announcement from Dave Snell.

Fans can now help select the songs for 90's Daughter's set list Friday night. Voting each day this week for songs from the 80's, 90's, Pop and Country. Today's vote is for an 80's classic: You Shook Me All Night Long, Livin' On A Prayer, Sweet Child O' Mine or Don't Stop Believing. The poll is open through 4:30 p.m. today.

Can we vote for all 4?

P.S.- I guess you can't. I just tried, and it only allows you to vote for one. :(

I think it's possible to vote multiple times in the same day! You could do 4 separate votes. I know I voted twice today :D

"Don't stop believin', Hold on to that feelin', Streetlight people, Don't stop believin', Hold on"

According to the article:

5:30pm - food vendors begin serving, Kaboom's Corner opens, other kids activities begin

6:30pm - Team/player introductions begin

-Bradley players will be split into co-ed teams for shooting contests.
The teams also will include members of the Red Sea student cheering section.

-A dunk contest also will be held.

-At 7:15 p.m., coaches Geno Ford and Michael Brooks will take the CEFCU Center Stage to preview their seasons.

-At 7:30 p.m., the band 90s Daughter — voted “Best Band” in Champaign-Urbana by Buzz Magazine — will perform.

....so there is not going to be anything resembling a "Red-White"?
No actual play between members of the men's basketball team?

River Jam Update

River Jam Update

I'm beginning to think that the River Jam is really for kids and not for adult season ticket holders or those who want to see some basketball. I'll be there but I'm not really into face painting, photos with Kaboom, co-ed basketball, or autographs. I hope it works but I'm beginning to have some doubts. I would still prefer the ITOO Hall with spaghetti & chicken, etc.

Have I not been clear from the beginning what these 2 preseason events are? River Jam is a family-friendly night of entertainment to meet the teams and watch them compete in some fun games, enjoy some great food from two of our dining sponsors and enjoy some music from an accomplished band. Think Spaghetti Supper elements on a larger scale. The Season-Ticket Open Practice is Oct. 29 and allows season - ticket holders and Marquee 3 Package buyers an opportunity to attend men's basketball practice from 6-8 p.m. at Renaissance Coliseum. Fans can get the opportunity to see the guys on the court at that time and I am sure there will be some scrimmaging included at the practice. Think Red-White Scrimmage in a more focused format.

Did you see them play at the ITOO hall?

You have been crystal clear from the beginning. Some people are going to disagree with whatever you say and whatever BU does. Winning would put an end to some of that.

..it was hard to see much over the huge crowds with a couple thousand people every year at the ITOO every year - plus people may have missed the scrimmaging cuz the food was so good & the punchboards & prizes kept them occupied ;)

I'm pretty sure that every past preseason event before now titled "Red-White" included actual scrimmages with fans being able to sit and watch the players.

You can scoff all you want, but from the fans I have talked to about this year's "Red-White" event, there is some confusion, and many fans had not heard anything about it.
From the time this event was first announced on the BU website Sept. 20, until the last few days, when the mass email was sent out, and today, when the PJ Star published an article about it, there has been little specific information reaching the fans.

Who's scoffing?....reading Wiz's post he wanted to see some basketball and then said he preferred the ITOO spaghetti supper...I just asked if they played basketball there.

BP has been very clear about this event on here....hopefully you cleared it up for all those fans who were confused when you talked to them.
