PJ Star- BU guard asks for release

In the end, it does not matter.

I think most people here are BU fans. I think we have seen now that some are/were just Jim Les fans.

If players leaving and blaming the President makes some feel better, that is fine. The sun will still rise in the morning. BU will still field a team next year.

Life goes on...

:roll:I never said he was a traitor either.:roll:

I would love for you to show me where I said that.

Again, since you seem to know how/why Sammy is leaving, tell me this: Is he leaving because of his major or because Jim is not coaching?

or answer me this: Why are people blaming the President or A.D. for making a choice on Les? Isn't it fair for them to do that?

:roll:Show me where I claimed it was you that said that.:roll: On the other hand, I don't recall anyone at all "cheering the players for leaving" or saying they "hope the next coach fails".:roll:

I don't know how/why Sammy is leaving, which I've already stated it doesn't matter to me why he is leaving. I believe he has every right to make that decision in his life, without being called a "traitor" or saying he "quit". Again, nowhere in this post did I claim you're the one that said those things.

You would also have to ask the people that are "blaming the President or A.D. for making a choice on Les" why they are doing so. I don't see how I could answer that for them. It may be their opinion, but I'm not sure it's "fair" at this point. The results of their decisions will speak louder than anything else.

I believe everyone has a right to make a decision as well.

However, IF (and I don't know this) he is leaving because a coaching change was made, then he is quitting on his teammates.

IF he is leaving for his major (and I assume he was doing this regardless of coach) then his plan never changed and his teammates knew this.

I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement. He is making a decision regarding HIS life and it's considered "quitting" on his teammates, especially when he will have already graduated?

It's fine to disagree. I have no problem with that.

Do you think he would have played next season if a change had not been made?

I honestly feel that he would've stayed if Les was given another year. But that isn't the case. And if they are going to bring in a new coach then Sammy would have to learn a new system for only a year. If he is going to have to learn a new system either way, why not go onto the bigger stage and play for a team that will have a much better shot at making the NCAA tournament next year? I mean don't get me wrong, I don't like U of I, but they have a lot better chance of making the tourney than we do.

That they do. But they had a better chance when SM signed here as well.

Again, if he doesn't want to be a Brave, that is fine. I wouldn't want people here who are not dedicated to Bradley University and the program.

Whoever is brought in has to create a new and better atmosphere. They need to find dedicated players and build the program into a competitive one. To do that they need everyone on board and committed.

I enjoyed watching SM, but this is a new era.

I think that SM was dedicated to the past program. I look at it from this perspective. He is graduating in May, he is weighing his options. Just like any other graduate. If he wants to play 1 more year and the best option for him is at another school, so be it. If his best option is here, so be it.

Everyone let's get a perspective here. I've seen more emotions here on this board, then the last time I saw two women at Bloomingdale fighting over the last pair of size 6.5 black Jimmy Choo 3 inch pumps on sale for 50%.

Serious folks... This is only a game and I hope most of you have left time to discuss and read up on real current events that effect your life now and your children's life in the future.

I love BU basketball and wish it the best but win or lose we all carry on. What I'm getting at, there are much broader issues that we all need to look into then entertainment. I can see how it effects the players and coaches because it goes beyond entertainment for them, but us the fans?

For me.

Sports = Golf > School > Future > Growing Up > Being Responsible

To those who are critical of Sammy, would you be giving SM just as hard of a time if he was leaving to go pro, as opposed to transferring?

You mean like people were with POB? It's hard to say how they would feel.

I guess the only difference for me here is that all indications were that SM was coming back. Now, all of a sudden, he is not.

No not really, because it would be him finishing his college career HERE...not somewhere else for one year. I just think this is a basketball move and the whole grad school thing is a facade. Let's put it this way, I strongly believe that if he finished this last season and had no more basketball eligibility he would not be going to UofI for a masters degree. He'd probably try to find a job, but I concede I could be way wrong because I don't know; that's just my feeling. Or another scenario where if JL was still here he wouldn't leave for a masters at UofI.

if a guy jumps from a sinking ship and clutches a life preserver is that guy a traitor to the ship?

T what is up with all of your analogies today? There's a bunch that you've said but here's the thing...in that situation it's life and death, the ship is a ship..and the ocean is the ocean. In the real world, the one you claim is completely and utterly ending, it is a basketball program that can still compete and has a good chance of doing relatively well next year if everyone decides NOT to jump ship. It's not a life and death situation. To me it's a case of honor and loyalty to a program you committed the better part of your last 4 years to. If he really wants to go to UofI because of education, then fine, more power to him and I'm fine with that, but I still can't help but feel like this is a slight cowardly act by running away when the going gets tough. This team needs it's floor leader more than ever right now......

If you don't get that then agree to disagree because i'm tired of the analogies you are using that are so tragic I can't help but visualize you in the corner of a dark room crying while typing them out. We clearly disagree about a lot of things.

IMO, a little early to call this a sinking ship.... we haven't seen the new hire. While I have my extreme doubts I am taking a wait and see approach.

As for Sam, I wish him well and don't blame him for making this move. He deserves to finish his senior year in style.
