Postgame Thread BU-74 MSU-56

Question.....Did JL throw the water bottle after the SS missed bunny? The T' was on the BU bench and JL took the water bottle ba ck from the ref!

Yea he was ticked. That was an extremely open layup and kind of felt more critical than it actually was...probably because we ended up getting the stop afterwards anyway.

WE played very well today in the post defensively. Seems like this was the first game where we had a defensive presence in the lane

CR did alot without scoring......huge rebounds from nowhere....

there was pretty consistent energy from everyobe today....

I don't mind the turnovers as much as missed layups form the post but otherwise a very good game.

Our post players were open every time on their roll after the screen

The announcers seemed to think it was an accident, although you couldn't see what happened on the video feed. I got the feeling that maybe he swung his arm in disgust and the bottle slipped out.

Went to BWW to celebrate after the game...just got back!!! Best 40 mins outside of the Illinois game all year! IMO the difference in this game from the other home games this year was our defense! I felt that today we built our first half lead because we were stopping them by playing good D, not just because they had a bad shooting half! In the second half we continued the Defensive effort and our rebounding was just plain ridiculous!!! Great game!!!

Go BU!!!

Not much else to add other than awesome D and rebounding. I can't count how many times I saw BU players diving thru the air to get loose rebounds. Where was that effort and motivation earlier in the season?

I am somewhat concerned about how well this team will do in the MVC tourney 3 games in 3 days. Les really needs to develop at least 1 other player off the bench. At least get them 5-10 minutes a game. At the intensity of today's D, they were really wiped toward the end of the game.

And how bout that crazy parking before the game today. I wish I would of known that the St. Jude Gymnastics were also going on at the Civic Center. That 2,500 people took up most of the deck parking. Thus causing a lot of congestion with people going all sorts of directions when they noticed that the decks were full. Luckily we got in our deck and the full sign was just going up when we were walking out of the entrance. Took us 25 minutes just go to 3 blocks lol.

As complete a game as we've played this year. Our effort on the defensive end and on the boards has been outstanding the last two games. I hope that these guys have gotten it straightened out. As long as we put forth great effort like this we'll have a chance to win every ball game. The kool-aid is tasting pretty good right now.

that and the fact that the fewer the number of whistles...it always seems to benefit us....
there were some missed calls, but I can live with a few....as long as they don't call the ticky stuff and dozens of high screen fouls..

Agreed with this part.

good start and strong finish....we showed we can play with anyone in the league..
I even noted one (pretty well known) Missouri State fan get up and leave with about 5 minutes to go...so that's a pretty impressive beat down!

Congrats to the Braves -
Will Egolf is playing as well as any 5 in the Valley
our defense is strong, Dyricus and Jake are improving, and there isn't any erason we can't make a run for the Valley now....

just about everyone will be back next year too......
and we will have Dodie be back as well...

Yes, next year barring any major injuries, we have no excuse to not start out strong and win the games we should. And we still have plenty of time this year to make a strong run and do some good things as well. A minimum third place finish and NIT appearance is still doable this year.

Isn't he the one who said- "Better days are not ahead"

Seems he was wrong or at least a little overly-negative about that one.

I will admit that at the time KW wrote this piece I pretty much agreed with him on all points. I now think that BU just might have turned the corner and the rest of the year could get interesting. It's only one game, one win and one pretty darn good effort but I like what I saw today. SWAGGER, CONFIDENCE...I LOVE IT!

Keep it up Braves! Let's kick some ,,, in Carbondale!

My problem with KW is not that article itself. Like you said Chucky, he made some good points. But KW is like many other sports writers and/or talkers who change their opinions as often as the wind changes directions. If someone has an opinion about a team, at least they should be consistent and stick with their guns! It was way too early to write Bradley off, and KW should have known that just by looking at the schedule and seeing that we have a long stretch of winnable games coming up.

If KW wanted to change his opinion and write the team off, he should have waited and seen how we would have faired against our next three or four opponents at home. Now he's changing his tune again by saying the rest of the season "could be a lot of fun", and he looks silly for doing so because he was too premature in the first place!

I also prefer that they let them play a physical game!

I also wanted to mention that I found it interesting what Egolf said in KW's article. He thought that the big reason Bradley struggled for so long was that some of the players felt that after the Illinois game, winning games would come easy for the team. I made mention of that on the chat today as well. I think some players got a bit cocky after that game and it's unfortunate it took so long to turn things around. It's still not too late for a turnaround though, and the last two games have been a good start.

It's hard to pick a favorite player for the game, they all played good. I'm going with Will Egolf for my player of the game, he just seemed to be the most improved for this game. But SM, TB, and CR all had good games too and DSE, EM and JE looked good. The funniest part of the game, for me, was when the 6-9 SS blew a wide open layup and then a bottle ended up on the court, was that just a flinch reaction by JL and why was a technical called? I'm sure Sam will make it the next time. We're getting better and played some good team ball today.

Ive been waiting for a blowout so long. Finally got it. Stay tough like this braves and you can do something. Talent is there; just need that stomp on throat killer instinct. Showed some of that tonight, keep it up and make something happen this season.

Great game! One down.... I said we'd win 4 (or maybe 5) of the next 5 in a row.

Loved CR's defensive effort and block on a play in the 2nd 1/2.

It came right after a play where he didn't get thru a couple screens and his man hit a 3. Coach kept yelling for 'shooter', then hollered for Chris... then the shooter got free and sank a 3.

Next time down on D, Chris fought around the screen, got to his man quicker, the guy drove instead of shooting right away, CR stayed with him, and once the guy put up a shot Chris blocked it and then took it away.

Nice job CR! :D
