I like the way he is thinking! You should want your program at the top of the valley and in the big dance..Sitting back and saying oh! we are in the post season again NIT or CBI,CI common the real tourney NCAA not mediocrity again....That is our problem accepting just the post season and not the dance is a problem in IMO
If you read beyond the headline, I don't think he was calling the season a failure (hence, why it was in quotes in the title as well).
I'm not sure what was so harsh about the article. Kendrid focused more on the big picture than anything. ISU's goal was to reach the NCAA tournament and they didn't make it. Unlike grade school, they don't give trophies out for second place.
Several of my ISU fan-friends are also looking at their season as a "failure"--considering they are 49-19 the past two years under Jankovich, on the NCAA bubble and hosting NIT games, I think "failure" is pretty harsh. We have been 39-31 the past two years, not on the bubble or even in the NIT...I agree--ticket price increases, hype galore, but no sniff of the NCAA's--in Barack's words--"It's time for CHANGE"
My favorite moment of the season on Valleytalk was when one of the ISU fans posted that they had bigger fish to fry after they lost to us. I asked what those bigger fish were, getting ready for the NIT? I guess I was correct.
Yet some would have us celebrating CBI banners.
I figured this did not deserve its own thread but.....
...ISU players have been told they are playing @ Georgetown in game one of the NIT... I am not sure who told them (assuming the coaches)... or how they know that... or anything...but that is the word from the players...
