NIT selection show

Congrats to ISU and UNI....let's see if the Valley can put another team in MSG.

Nice to see two teams in from the Valley. That's one more than I thought would make it, but the Valley SOS helped. I don't recall if we ever had a .500 team from the Valley make the NIT, but we got two in this year.

Also nice to see teams like Middle Tennessee St. and Oral Roberts get to host at least one game. It's not often that the NIT gives home games to lower major teams.

Since the NCAA took over the NIT, the home team assignments are strictly determined by seeding. The higher seeds are always the hosting team.
Note there is one exception- Dayton- since Dayton's arena is being used by the NCAA for the First Four tournament, Dayton will be a road team for their first game.

Oh I agree about the seeding. It's just that the NIT usually seeds even strong teams like MTS and ORU on the road for the first round. I'm glad though they got higher seeding this time around.

And the lesson for Dayton is for them to try to make the NCAA Tournament each year since they will NEVER get a first round NIT home game as long as Dayton's arena is used for the First Four NCAA Tournament games each year! :D

They didn't give Nevada a home game.

And yes, they give 1 home game, but hardly ever give them a 2nd.
