New mascot for Bradley?

He's better than this guy-Western Kentucky's Big Red blob-

I think "Dieselman" would be fun. Get a guy in a yellow superhero costume complete with ninja mask and have a diesel engine portruding from his front and back. He could run around and be ridiculous. Maybe it could net you a few bucks from the local corporate giant too.

A mascot doesn't need to be elaborate or change the nickname. It can be something related without disrupting tradition.

How about something like this guy...I made him special this morning.

He needs a little refinement...but I'd be fine with something like this patrolling our sidelines.

if I saw something like that patrolling the sidelines, I would throw an empty beer cup at it! lol

It doesn't have to make sense, doesn't have to be 'indigenous', and doesn't have to have a tie to the history of the school. Sure, those would all be nice. However, the NCAA seems to have stripped us of the right to do that as we please. It just has to be fun and marketable. I think bringing back 'Tommy Hawk' or something similar would probably be as close as we could get to getting something that hits at least 2 of the 3 items I mentioned above (indigenous, ties to the past).

If they go out and get a mascot the image will have to be marketable. LG that thing you created is not even close to something I would wear on my baseball hat much less a T shirt. Ben how about your used batteries?

Wouldn't you want your T-shirt and hat to still say Braves on it? Since we're the Braves - I wouldn't wear a hat with a gargoyle on it either.

I've seen a few Bulldogs on a few hats this year for Butler with a BU in the back of the hat. A Gargoyle if done right could resemble a Bulldog. That thing you created looks to much like the blob which would be great for small kids but for merchandising I'd have to say you are looking at an older crowd the 4-5 year olds.

IF marketed well and given the right fit, just about anything can sell well...

Two things, the team nickname CANNOT change just be enhanced with a new logo that fits to Braves (ex a lion) AND the team colors CANNOT change...

I don't really care what you think...I was just taking a stab at it.

No offense taken or intended.

I do however, think its a slippery slope when you change the mascot to something like a gargoyle or a squirrel instead of something more inanimate like a big letter or even a blob.

Western Kentucky will never be known as the WKU Blobs - they'll always be the Hilltoppers. But I feel it makes it really easy to change our controversial/traditional nickname if you start slapping a squirrel on t-shirts, hats, cups, etc. Eventually, we'll just end up being known as the Squirrels.

Thoughts?

What about a group of arrows through a B?

For just the logo...think something a little like the FSU secondary logo...

Mascot...how about a Robin Hood type character in red/black?

Difference is that they are Butler Bulldogs - Not the Bradley Braves Gargoyles.

Might as well just get Sponge Bob Squarepants

Oh, and for the record SFP and Beninator I HATE the Gargoyle idea. Nothin' personal. ;)

Not taken that way at all! :) I liked the gargoyle idea as there isn't much if anything we can do with Braves. Although, I also like the Captain Brave idea as well.

I just believe that if we do go with a mascot then it needs to be able to look good on merchandise for all ages. Right now I have a green (GF purchased it) BradleyBraves legend baseball hat that I'm happy with.

www.gargoyleshirts.com/cm/blue-gargoyles Imagine in red!

BTW...why are these legend hats green?

If left to the students, I suspect someone would come up with the nickname, "Fighting Keggars!" and the mascot would be dressed in a beer keg with a big red "BU" on the side!

If left to the BU prez, I wouldn't be surprised to see the new nickname "The Abstainers" and the mascot could be a giant plastic bottle of Dasani water, with the BU logo on the side...Would support the Prez's campaign to reduce underage drinking....think of the corporate sponsorship possibilities!
:lol::lol::lol:
