A mascot doesn't need to be elaborate or change the nickname. It can be something related without disrupting tradition.
How about something like this guy...I made him special this morning.

He needs a little refinement...but I'd be fine with something like this patrolling our sidelines.
if I saw something like that patrolling the sidelines, I would throw an empty beer cup at it! lol
Why?
If they go out and get a mascot the image will have to be marketable. LG that thing you created is not even close to something I would wear on my baseball hat much less a T shirt. Ben how about your used batteries?
Wouldn't you want your T-shirt and hat to still say Braves on it? Since we're the Braves - I wouldn't wear a hat with a gargoyle on it either.
I've seen a few Bulldogs on a few hats this year for Butler with a BU in the back of the hat. A Gargoyle if done right could resemble a Bulldog. That thing you created looks to much like the blob which would be great for small kids but for merchandising I'd have to say you are looking at an older crowd the 4-5 year olds.
