Max B. again

When Sam first arrived in Peoria I was able to watch him play summer ball at the Rec Plex and he moved fairly well for a big man, I do believe he would have been a much better player if he would not have had the knee injuries, he never was the same player I saw after his injuries, even though he was not a star at BU I will always admire him for what he went thru as a lot of players would have called it quits if they had to go thru all the rehabs Sam went thru in his career at BU.

Never questioned his heart. But he wasn't athletic before the injuries IMO.

You must have been watching a different Sam Singh than I was. At no point was he ever athletic. Overweight perhaps, but not athletic.

I really thought when he was a freshman he had very good potential to be an impact player in the Valley.

He could move, had good form on his shot, big both wide and tall and yes he did have athletic ability. He was not fat or out of shape when he was a freshman.

He was not going to hammer down lobs but he could jump and could go get the ball off the rim.

He was a shell of his self after his injuries.

Agree with you here..totally....

Sam was a friend of mine and did have some athletic ability, including average hops and he was really not himself at all after both injuries. He lost lateral quickness and leaping ability almost entirely. I think we've seen a similar, though not as drastic, drop in athleticism with WE after his knee troubles.

Except Max has the ability to step back and hit the occasional 3 and has a really good mid range jump shot. He just doesnt need to with the team that surrounds him at ND since he has good shooters around him.

Exactly. Sighn is a horrible comparison. Max is more mobile than SS and is definitely a better shooter. I have no doubt MB is a D-1 player, starter at a mid-major and potential starter at a high D-1 in a year or two. I really think his strength is underrated, he plays so strong in the low post and he's only going to develop more. Really not sure why there isn't higher D-1 interest.

Nothing is written in stone. Bradley continues to follow Max and other 2011 kids, because the scholarship situation can change, as it always does after every season.

I hope there still a chance. I think his family could find a way to pay for his 1st year and put him on a scholarship his last 3 years. Probably never happen but a person could hope.

I'd be curious to see the comments about Singh when he was in HS, especially after his impressive games against guys heading to the SEC and winning a state title. Methinks they're very similar to the ones we're reading about Max right now.

I think the difference is that Singh was from the Ozarks, where not many people had seen him play at the high school level, going by what they read/heard. Max on the other hand, is local and many people who follow Bradley basketball have seen him play. Im going on feeling here, so no legitimate article/documentation, but I dont think Sam Singh could hit a 3 pointer somewhat consistently. Max has a nice shooting touch.

I know he is a good free throw shooter!

Have playoffs started? I guess PND plays richwoods soon is that the regional opener?

Can't wait for sectionals on campus

PND plays Richwoods tonight (Friday, 2/11) at Notre Dame. This is a regular season game, not the state playoffs.
The regionals start the week of Monday, Feb. 28.

I understand things could change, but Max started to gain momentum before Les "discovered" Nate Wells. I hope Nate turns out to be an excellent player for BU. However, Max is in our own backyard and Les has been "evaluating" him for a few years. Boggles my mind...

I heard John Beilein is supposed to be checking him out now. I've been a lot more impressed with Michigan than the other bottom of the big ten teams-(Iowa,Indiana) I think they look like a good young team and could be better in the near future.

Confirmation: Beeline is in The Kitchen.

Bruce Weber was also in the house to watch Max. PND barely beat Richwoods. Max had 26 (unofficially).

I have no idea, never saw SS play and know nothing about his recruiting. How heavily was he sought? I'm guessing not very.

As for Biefeldt, he'll hardly be called on to shoot 3's. He's a strong low block player and can hit mid-range. Tremendous upside. I would also place him in the top 5 bigs in the Peoria area in the last 25 years. I seriously doubt SS would have been that had he grown up here.
