And I'm afraid Loyola will also be heading in that direction, starting with their 17 point drubbing at home and 42 point performance to hapless Detroit
Detroit is 10-5, not exactly hapless.
DePaul seems to like local guys, maybe they'll give him a look after this season. ...
nothing like a good belly laugh, BB...
are you really hinting you think DePaul will hire Whitesell, a marginally successful mid-major coach, to replace Wainwright, an ex-marginally successful mid-major coach?

Just for some fun ...
Career Div. I coaching records
Jim Whitesell (in fifth season, all at Loyola)
79-75 (.513 winning percentage)
38-46 in Horizon league (.452)
Hasn't finished better than third in the league and is trending down
Jerry Wainwright
In 11 seasons at a "mid-major"
186-145 (.562)
111-65 (.631) in conference (84-44 in CAA, 27-21 in A-10)
Never finished lower than fourth in the CAA in eight seasons. Has three conference titles and two second-place finishes. Had two NCAA and two NIT appearances in first eight years.
overall, in 15th season
238-217 (.523)
Jim Les (in eighth season, all at Bradley)
132-112 (.540)
62-67 (.481) in Valley
Never better than a fourth-place finish, those he's very consistent with fourth and fifth. One NCAA and one NIT.

Dave Leitoa was 22-35 as a Division I head coach at Northeastern. Jerry Wainwright was 49-42 at Richmond. What about those two resumes suggest they're any different than Whitesell's?
The big difference is that Whitesell's resume was built below D-I ... but his 202-134 record at Lewis with five NCAAs including a Sweet 16 run is pretty solid.

Bo Ryan and Bruce Pearl's resumes were built at lower levels as well, so it isn't unprecedented. Last time I checked those guys have done pretty well.
We're on the same page. I'm just throwing info out there.
Whitesell has also done something Wainwright and Leitoa have never done...win at Carver Arena!![]()
I'm just going to say one thing. Loyola is still the only D1 men's basketball team from the State of Illinois to ever win a NCAA Championship game and I'm proud of it.
That is not likely. Their most "likely" total is 18 wins, per Pomeroy. You could calculate it, but, I would imagine the likelihood of Loyola surpassing 19 would be less than 30%.Loyola will win 20 games this year
What leads you to believe they'd go a different route?

Loyola's W/L record so far this season has been propped up by a NCAA high "Luck" rate (Pomeroy), which is easily seen by looking at the large variance in their Sagarin ELO Chess rank of 68 (backwards-looking) and their PREDICTOR rank of 180 (forward-looking)
What does this tell you?
It tells you that reality is about to hit the Ramblers with a Tex Cobb haymaker.
