URBANA, Ill. (AP) -- A judge in central Illinois is expected to consider if former Illinois basketball player Jamar Smith will have his probation revoked for allegedly drinking alcohol.
Smith is scheduled to appear at a morning hearing in Champaign County Circuit Court.
He's serving two years' probation after pleading guilty last year to felony driving under the influence causing great bodily harm. He drove a car into a tree in February 2007, injuring former teammate Brian Carlwell.
Champaign police breaking up an argument outside a bar in July said they saw the 21-year-old Peoria native and that he smelled of alcohol. Police say Smith admitted drinking.
Illinois coach Bruce Weber then kicked Smith off the team.

Don't believe I've seen this anywhere ...

Smith will wear the bracelet when he returns to the basketball court at Southern Indiana, an Division II program in Evansville. Smith will first undergo outpaitent treatment at a facility in Evansville and work at a grocery store before enrolling at Southern Indiana for the second semester. He would be eligible to play immediately.
"First and foremost, I must say I'm an alcoholic,'' Smith told judge Richard Klaus. "I'm not saying that for show. Everything I lost is from alcohol.''
