Have fun, fish! Indy St is my favorite road trip every year...unfortunately I will be at our Christmas with the in-laws that night so I will have to miss it. The Indy St fans are great. Most are knowledgable about the team and opponent and are my favorite fans (along with the Drake fans) in the Valley.
No its BYOB. Thats how we keep the place lively. Seriously.................no beer.................sorry but come on over anyway. We like to see you have a good time.............but we also always like the home team to win!

Hulman Center is probably the most sterile stadium I've ever watched a game in. It's a white walled mausoleum and truly an awful experience. The beefhouse stop on the way down is the only redeeming part of the trip. The city itself has one or two decent bars next to the stadium but thats about it. I'd hate to live there. About as depressing a place as it gets.

Lived in Terre Haute and Peoria both a considerable amount of time. Neither is drastically better than the other. Peoria has a slight edge with the Minor League sports and such, but TH's proximity to Indy balances it out.

Not sure how a 90 minute drive 'balances it out'. That's like saying Peoria has a college football team because it's only 90 minutes from Champaign, or that Rockford is a great city because it's only 90 minutes from Chicago. Plus it's less than 1/2 the size of Peoria, both the city and metro area. Gotta side with Peoria on this one.
Like I said, I have lived in both and they both have positives. Terre Haute is smaller, but still has plenty to do. And being able to be in downtown Indy in 60 minutes is a huge plus. Any show that Peoria has Indy is sure to get, and tons more. To get to downtown St. Louis or Chicago from Peoria is at minimum a 3 hour trip, you can get to them from Terre Haute just as quickly. Additionally Peoria has a much larger issue with crime and the public school systems aren't anywhere near as good as a whole (many here will cite Dunlap or Washington, but go look at Dixie Bee or Honey Creek, they are even better). Chitowns comment about being a place for farmers couldn't be further from the truth, Terre Haute has 3 universities, with Rose Hulman being far more prestigious than our BU, a mall that is every bit as good as Northwoods, has some cool sites to see if you know what to look for, etc. The Hulman Center isn't really much different than the Civic Center at all, it is another cookie cutter arena without much personality, we just happen to be partial to Carver. Neither are great, neither are poor, they are what they are. You can have a great trip to Terre Haute and there are some great places to go pre and post game like Moggers, The Terminal, The Bally (for a younger crowd), the Verve, etc. The people in Terre Haute will be cordial and talk BBall, many will even remember that Michael Menser the INSU 'star' from earlier this decade has family in the Peoria area (Morton). I'm not sure why people think 'The Haute' is so bad, it's no better or worse than many of the MVC towns (BN, Cedar Falls, Springfield) and far better than Carbondale. I'm by no means in love with the place, but it'll make a great 1 or 2 day trip for the BU faithful, especially if we come away with a win.
