“We’re going to wait as long as we feel like we can. At some point you’ve got to close it down, but we’re trying to hold out and see if we can’t get a home and home with a BCS school,” he said. “There’s a big risk in that because we may not, and then you’ve got to get somebody. But right now that’s our plan.”
ISU appears ready to host another Thanksgiving break exempt tournament, but this could be the last year for that.
“Next year (the 2011-12 season) we’ll do everything we can to get into an exempt tournament that give us that chance to play some BCS schools, but it doesn’t help us get them here (to Redbird Arena),” said Jankovich.
“My wish list would be to play home-and-home series with BCS schools. That’s not going to happen. We’ll be lucky to get one. We’ll see if anyone is desperate enough to sign up for it.”
