Bradley's closed scrimmage at UW-Milwaukee was played Saturday, Nov. 1, and we have heard little about the results. I have heard Bradley had some issues similar to what was seen in the open practice last week, mostly some difficulty scoring out of their offense at times.

Now Bradley will play an exhibition game against Augustana College on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 PM at the Carver Arena. This game is part of the season ticket package. There will be no TV available.
Augustana College is a private liberal arts college in Rock Island with an enrollment of about 2,500 students.
The Augustana Vikings basketball team plays in Division III of the NCAA, and is a member of the CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin). Other member teams include Carthage, Elmhurst, Ill. Wesleyan, Millikin, North Central, North Park, and Wheaton.
Here are a couple summaries about their program, and their 2014-15 basketball team-

Roster- they have a couple local Peoria area guys-

They are coming off a successful season in 2013-14- they finished 20-8, and 9-5 in the CCIW.
Stats-

This team could give Bradley a challenge. The Vikings return their entire starting lineup from last year, and in fact return all 15 letterwinners from last year's team.
They return 100% of their scoring and 99% of their rebounding from last year's team.

Augustana is favored to win the CCIW this year, and they have been picked by D3hoops.com and by The Sporting News as the #3 team in the country in NCAA Division III.-

They are bringing a bus load of their fans-

Bradley and Augustana have played 49 times in the past, and Bradley leads 31-18. The last time they met was December 16, 1978 at Robertson Memorial Field House. Augustana lead 39-26 at halftime, but Bradley rallied for a 65-63 win behind 16 points each from Carl Maniscalco and All-American and future NBA player Mitchell "J.J." Anderson.
Augustana Head Coach Grey Giovanine is 1-2 against D1 opponents in his 16 years at Augustana.
Bradley played Augustana each year from 1915-1943 as members of the IIAC (Illinois Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).

Per Augustana's head coach Grey Giovanine..
"Assistant Head Coach Ron Coleman was an outstanding player for us at Lamar University ....
I couldn't be prouder of him, and I appreciate his efforts, along with those of Coach Ford and
the entire Bradley staff, in making this game a reality."

Augustana went to Brazil last fall and played 4 games..
they won their first game against a very low level pro team Jundiaense/Vinjedo
but then lost their other three to "America De Sao Jose Do Rio Preto", "Club Santo Andre", and " C.R. Flamengo"

That PJ Star article on tonight's game did not get seen by a whole lot of the print subscribers - hope that doesn't hurt the word getting out even more...

A power failure at PJStar caused this morning's edition to go out late - and in many cases -
more than 4-5 hours late - thus getting delivered after people left for work.
There are also many who didn't get their paper at all this morning.

"A power failure caused severe production problems Wednesday night that
resulted in power to the press being interrupted. Power was restored to the
press four hours after the scheduled start time. As a result, some
subscribers will receive their Journal Star delivery very late. If you do not
receive a newspaper on Thursday, it will be delivered with your Friday
newspaper."

for those who read this - the print article doesn't differ from the online link above except pictures..but where Dave Reynolds usually has a little companion article that describes the matchups, the lineups, and the prediction of who's gonna win and the score - none of that appears in the paper for this game.

BTW - for those interested - one of the Bradley University Board of Trustees members, Calvin Butler (1991)
spoke on campus last night to students and the basketball players - LINK - and they loved his presentation.
It is my understanding that Mr. Butler and perhaps other members of the Board of Trustees are going to be present for tonight's game.
Let's hope we play great and show them a HUGE win!

I never cease to be amazed at how many Bradley alumni have gone on to tremendous careers - accomplished and successful in their field, humble yet ladened with accomplishments, and fine examples as workers and family men & women. Many are true leaders in their fields, have published within their academic realm, started and led businesses, taught others, HELPED MANY, etc.....MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A BRADLEY ALUM!

Why is there no live stream through BUtv for tonight's exhibition game?

I don't think they have ever streamed the Red-White or Exhibition games.

Bobby Parker has answered that question in the past-

We have never video streamed the preseason exhibition games. The coaching staffs typically have agreements with their exhibition opponents not to exchange scouting reports, nor have they wanted the video out there for future regular-season opponents to view.

I had thought there would be an audio stream. I knew there would be no video but why no audio. I clicked on the audio link and was taken to what appears to be the site for future game videos and audio links. I could not find a link to tonight's game.

Well warren jones looks like fun. Offensively skilled fellow. Thomas might have been a great find. He and Cunningham both had their hiccups in the first half but also flashed potential and great athleticism. They are both positionaly diverse.

under 1 minute to go and we've trailed the entire game from 5-10 pts - but with a min-flurry we are back to within three...
We don't defend well against threes, and we allow way, way too many layups, and easy drives to the hoop.
...plus we still don't have an inbounds pass even when we have the ball right under our own bucket!

Not much to say - we've been dominated and beat down by a DIII team..
if even one fan comes up with some excuse for this then I would love to hear it - they haven't had any more time to prepare than we have, they have injured players, but surely someone will say it's just an exhibition and hey - they're a pretty good team - this was a really good test -

only about 2000 actual people there regardless of what's announced..
several members of the Board of Trustees saw this...wonder what went thru their minds...
The AD, who says he always watches and takes extensive notes... hasn't had a note pad since I can recall...
Can't say anyone really has had a good game or stood out - Bell, Grier, & Jones have at least been able to score occasionally.
Jermaine Morgan looks like a re-incarnation of Chris Blake - can't score - but then how would any sensible mind be surprised since he didn't score even in juco against non-D-I opponents.

We have potential but we need some common sense like JJ Tauai off the bench of someone who can create a shot like Walt Lemon.
Time will tell....but many of these fans have been waiting, waiting - and it better happen soon -
