Disturbing comment from Coach Les

I like Egolf..... however............HE STILL HAS A LOT TO PROVE!

I am not sure he will even be a starter next year..... or even by year's end. I hope he proves me wrong and comes back with a major chip on his shoulder. He'd better be working on that 3-point shot while he's re-habbing;)

I'm worried about Egolf staying healthy next year. Two years - two season ending injuries.

I think Bradley did look much better when Will started getting some minutes. He seemed to actually know what he was doing out there. Plus, he hit those clutch free throws to ice the second game of the tournament. I think one of Bradley's best overall game came against Richmond (12-13, 4-6 A10) when he was starting to turn the corner.

I don't think he will cause major matchup problems, but a healthy Egolf improves BU's weakest link.

I understand. I do. I want Will to be good. He is one of my favorite players. But it's hard for me to put a lot into a three game stretch versus FGCU, Richmond, and UMKC. Les didn't have confidence in him until he had all but given up on David Collins.

I hope Will becomes a double-digit scorer next year. I just think its tough to predict that kind of thing. I admit I am not a guy who lives and relies much on hype. Some do. Im just a fact based kind of guy.

Honestly I think it takes quite a bit for Les to become confident in a bigman. I also think it took Les losing confidence in Collins to begin to give more minutes to Les. Les looked like he wanted Collins to succeed or duplicate his work in the CBI, when it became apparent that Collins was not giving out put like he did in the CBI, I think JL went to Egolf.

Regardless, I do believe a healthy Egolf would have made a difference to BU this season. Just an opinion but the energy level and production of our team when Egolf began to play versus when Collins was getting most of the minutes earlier in the season was substancial and I personally believe Egolf's teammates had more confidence in him as a player then in Collins.

Of this I have NO doubt.

True, but also against E. Tenn. St. (a respectable 17-8, 11-4 Atlantic Sun). When he was on the floor, we played better than we have all season on offense and defense.

completely agree... I stated on the thread after the ETSU game that we had a swagger when Will was in the lineup... and Will displayed some skills that I have seen from very few big men in the MVC this year.

I agree. Will's presence on both ends would have made a difference this year. A huge difference? Not sure. But I bet we'd have another win or two if he had been our starting center all year.

I'm just looking forward to finally having an ATHLETIC big guy. Which means they can run and catch a ball that is passed to them, they can pass it back out when they realize they are being triple teamed, or won't have the ball slapped out of their hand easily by a 6 foot guard.

We do have an athletic big guy, we just don't use him. I'm hoping that whatever fledgling postseason tournament we go to, we get a heavy dose of Anthony Thompson. Of course, I have been hoping that all season and instead I am hoping that the kid doesn't transfer.

I DO agree he would have made a difference. But do you really see him as a center?

I agree with that. The offense was starting to click like it had in previous years with guys getting open shots. I think Bradley was up 20 at the 10 minute mark of the second half when Egolf went down. The air was let out of the balloon at that point.

The only reason I stated Richmond's record is that I knew if I didn't, somebody would point out that they are an average team at best.

I don't see WE as a "True Center"... but I see him fitting into the "5-spot" for Coach Les' system of what he would like to have on the floor. And I think WE and Bradley would succed with that.

Absolutely. We tried to make him a '4' last year, and it was a miserable failure. He hung around the perimeter and jacked 3's and was a non-factor. We took a 6'9" kid with great length and athleticism and had him play like he's 6'5". He was clearly more comfortable playing with his back to the basket and out of the high post, and we were clearly better with him doing that. Until we decide that we want to play a true 3-out/2-in offense that utilizes both a power forward and center on the block, Egolf is a 5. If we go 'big' and play a true 4 and 5, then perhaps he can play the 4.

Yes, good point, as I belive some BU fans believe he was out there around the perimeter on his own accord. He was simply doing what he was told to do.
