BU Frosh

I liked eastman also. DSE had a nice 3 point shot and a nice pass inside. I was shocked at how big JP is. MK didn't do much but I could see him contributing.

I liked the way Eastman took the ball to the hole. He didn't make the shot after getting fouled and he missed the free throws but I liked that he wasn't afraid to take it to the basket knowing he is going to get hit. If he redshirts, he could be pretty good in the future.

I liked DSE & I may be way off base, but I believe if they play in the Exhib game they cannot redshirt & all 4 played. Now an injury redshirt is another issue.

No, you can redshirt after playing in an exhibition. Anthony Thompson played in the exhibition games during his true freshman year and then redshirted.

The coach's must see something in MK because he played some pretty good minutes for a Freshman! DSE had a nice stroke on the 3 and JE had a couple nice drives to the hoop(it was nice that Jakes father was in the house to watch) and JP will be fine once he getds used to the pace of the college game....with our luck NO-ONE should red/shirt due to injuries!

I liked DSE as well. I think that Eastman will redshirt. JE's freethrow shot looked very flat for someone who shoot's the three. IMO Milos seems to be a player who is at the right spot at the right time. To me, Milos seemed to have a case of the freshman nerves. As for JP, I would have liked to see him get some minutes with the experienced lineup.

DSE was the most impressive and looks to be an all conference type point guard of the future, I heard Jake Eastman was thinking about red-shirting because of the lack of minutes he will get this season, Milos did some good things and will only get better, Jordan should also improve as the season goes on.

Jake Eastman's father was there, so I am sure Jake was happy to get some meaningful minutes, and to score. I had a chance to talk to Kevin Eastman (assistant coach with the Boston Celtics). He flew in from New Jersey after the Celtics played there last night and beat the Nets, and he has to fly out of Chicago tomorrow to meet up with the team for practice. Their next game is Wednesday at Utah.
What a great guy!

You may be correct, but I thought AT only played in a Red/White scrimmage which is different than an exhibition game.

not just freshmen, but anyone who is new to D-I, so even juco kids can play in exhibitions and still not count against a redshirt.

I didn't see enough of the freshmen to really get a feel, but here's my take - Milos looks like he has a decent looking shot. DSE looked like he could be a nice spot-up shooter, but needs to work on his defensive fundamentals on the perimeter (got burnt several times). Eastman looked decent in his brief stint at the end, and Prosser wasn't in long enough to get a feel either way. They all kind of looked like freshmen - none looked out of place, but none looked ready to contribute a lot.

JP is a very big guy and will get bigger. He will be a force in the league someday (hopefully sooner than later). Did you also notice how easy he moves around the floor. He is very light on his feet and agile for his size. I think he could be a lot like Bob Harstad from the late 80's early 90's at Creighton. Maybe I am dreaming... But I'm allowed to dream.

Even in the few minutes he got you could tell JP sets up better in the post than any of the other big men. If he has post moves to go with it then he needs to be on the floor.

This team could win the Valley with someone who can score consistently inside.

As posted in another thread, it doesn't sound like that's the role of our inside players. :(

I would be very surprised to see any of the freshman RS. I really only have the old, we need the depth argument - however it remains valid. An interesting dilemma though, is that a player may begin redshirting, and simply forfeits he ability to redshirt if he comes into a game. This means Eastman could sit out until injuries to Dodie and CRob, god forbid, knock on wood, throw salt over your shoulder, sideline them and we need JE in MVC-play. That being said, you sacrifice a lot of development that comes with gradual increase in PT the above scenario. I don't like the idea of redshirting a player unless it's to condition and/or bulk up as AT did two years ago.
