BU at Creighton Televised?

When in doubt, go straight to the source.

The lady I just talked to at Comcast says the information she has right now shows it's being brought in on Channel 44 as a "special production".

My rep got it wrong about espn..I had her call her rep at the cable co.

It was suppose to be a "special production" according the lady that buys my ad spots. It was not in the original package but added later and now supposedly pulled. The cable rep won't sell us spots anyway that's all I know. If it is on Sat. I will be ticked since we couldn't buy spots

Notwithstanding what lefty was told, I have verified from the highest source that--
1) the game at Creighton will not be covered by Comcast
2) it has nothing to do with the DR situation
3) it was because by the time the MVC decided to select the ISU-SIU game for telecast, there simply was not enough time to make all the arrangements, sell advertising, and and line up the broadcast technicalities to get the game telecast by Comcast.

It was not for lack of trying, and as of a week ago it was looking likem it could get done. But it will not be.

clearing up some issues

clearing up some issues

I just wanted to post in response to this thread to clear up some rumors that are going around about the BU @ CU game on Saturday. This game was a part of the MVC "Wild Card" Weekend television package that was 'hands off' to Comcast (Insight) even though they wanted the game in their original package. As late as the first week in February, we were under the impression that there was a very good chance that this game would be selected under the Wild Card package by the conference, so there was not any preparation made by either Bradley or Comcast to broadcast the game. Losses by both us and Creighton during the first full week of February took the 'interest' in this game down a notch. We were finally told that the game would not be televised on February 11 and the game became available for another media outlet to broadcast the game. At that time, we approached Comcast about whether or not they would be interested in picking up the game, but coming off a loss at Indiana State, they were not in a huge hurry to get it on. Talks started in earnest the week of February 18th about getting the game on television, after wins against Creighton and at Drake, and while both Bradley and Comcast had a strong desire to make it happen, the further we pursued the possibility the more it became clear that it was going to be very difficult to put the game together from both a production and sales standpoint in less than 7 working days in a quality manner. We jointly decided that it would not be fair to our fans and sponsors to put a lower quality production on the air simply to 'get it on.'

I want to make it very clear that the recent incident with Daniel Ruffin had NOTHING to do with the decision for the game to be broadcast or not. This was simply a product of not having enough time to produce a quality broadcast and generate the revenue needed to produce that quality. At no time did any sponsors, local or national, pull their sponsorship because of this situation, and at no time did Comcast mention this as a consideration in being able to sell the game.

While we are disappointed that the game at Creighton will not be carried on television, we would encourage all Bradley fans to listen to the game on our radio partner, WMBD 1470 AM, and to watch the video stream online through bubraves.com.

Thanks for the post, John.

That's too bad. I do hope we can get it off of channelsurfing.net. BuBravesTV is
completely substandard, unfortunately.

Fish - it can't be on Channelsurfing if it isn't televised on TV anywhere.... supposedly they are going to go with the webstream from the scoreboard feed in Omaha, so I don't think it can be on Channelsurfing.

Agree that quality on BUBRAVESTV isn't the greatest, but it beats nothing. Atleast we can see the game. Now the big question is to hope that the scoreboard feed doesn't have big cartoon like promos when Creighton scores. The Wichita feed was so pathetic last year... it was really unwatchable.

Yeah, I'm just bent out of shape because it costs infinitely more than other feeds (which are usually free) and then it's generally unreliable and low quality. It's like getting punched twice.

Wasn't this how the some ISU games (not against BU) were shown on Channelsurfing though?

In the beanbag nontheless. This is what I feel like when I click 'purchase'.

IllinoisSU game was done through their scoreboard on channelsurfing and I'd rather watch 6 hours of the Golden Girls on re-runs then experience that again! I'm sure CU if they can, would do it much better:D

That's too bad.....was hoping this game would be on.

Someone may want to inform the people at Comcast that it isn't, since I was told this afternoon that it would be.

Comcast had planned to do the game, and some sponsors had even been lined up. But an uplink truck could not be arranged for this game, and it was cancelled.

I just spoke to a member of the Comcast broadcast crew, and he says it is not on Comcast.

So unless Comcast is picking up some other feed for this game, I don't think it will be on.

Again.....the people in the know at Comcast may want to actually inform their employees as they continue to tell their customers this game is on television!
