If TOMMY HAWK isn't brought back...then I will champion CAPTAIN BRAVE and expect you all to do the same!
In my make-believe utopia that I escape to from time to time, I imagine that we have gone back to that logo and those uniforms, and that we still have either Brad E. Lee or Tommy Hawk as our mascot.
Explain to me again how Tommy Hawk is offensive? Why can't we just resurrect him? It's a bird in a Bradley jersey named Tommy. If the NCAA draws some other conclusion that's their problem.
I agree , how many times are people going to try and change Braves , find something else to waste your time on.Here's your mascot! He's a national phenomenon!
LOL!This has absolutely nothing to do with the team or coach. If it's a distraction, then it's because they're very, very easily distracted and unfocused. They have nothing to do with this.
There was a mascot committee 3 or 4 years ago. Mitch Griffin led the committee and if he couldn't get it done I doubt any other staff memeber can, especially in the marketing department. There were even suggestions put out and a voting process (gargoyle, military person, giant clock, etc.). The voting turned up no mascot as the winner. This is a moot point.
By the way, the mascot issue wouldn't change the nickname BRAVES, that would stay. They just wanted a brand extension so they could have a mascot at games and sell some merchandise. They really were probably going to stick with the current logo regardless of the mascot. After the bobcat fiasco and the last committee, I guarantee this goes nowhere. Glad our student senate is knowledgeable about the recent history...
Just came across this on the Bradley student blog... Take it for what it's worth.

Captain Brave is on the opening montage for the Comcast broadcasts, and whipped the crowd into a frenzy in Vegas when we played the Illini. What more proof do you need that this is the mascot?!?!?
Like I said before our student senate should be coming up with ideas to get better student attendance at the games , you have no say on this matter when you do not have the attendance to support it, the fans that have been attending BU games are the ones that count ( I have been going for over 40 years and see no reason for a mascot)There was a mascot committee 3 or 4 years ago. Captain Brave will probably get support from this crowd regardless of which camp you fall under.
I also forgot about those gargoyles on Bradley Hall! I could live with that as a mascot. Are there any other school that has a gargoyle as one?
