Another softball article from the PJS on J Glasser. Reporters Kaergard and Vlahos (one of whom admittedly works at BU), seem to totally misunderstand the condition that JG is leaving BU in. They have ignored the dreadful financial state of our school, no mention of the 7 million per year loss in the Ath. dept., no reference to the April 2014 Report on resources, ignored the awful state of Athletics and the loss of fans and game attendance down from 9000+ to 3000, the"my way or the highway" management, faculty morale, and the list goes on and on. Where in H.LL have these turkeys been? It is becoming much more apparent that some kind of link exists between the PJS and BU. Whatever happened to accuracy in reporting?

actually, both writers are alumni, and the one who appears to be penning the column admits to being a contracted, paid adjunct professor
- plus he's also advisor to the student newspaper.
The other, Vlahos, used to write occasionally for the Sports Department and from his tweets still has sports interests - but it is unclear if he has any input to what is being written in this column.
but all in all - their perspectives are kinda what we've come to expect, and what we have seen somewhat unanimously from the PJ Star.


I certainly do agree with their main premise...

But this promise - a quote directly form the President - does puzzle me. If it is sincere, then each of us should have the right to expect some input into "the process"...
"If you have a stake in the outcome, you deserve a part of the process."
 
These 2 imbecile writers stated that she has a good repoire with the faculty and the students. I have heard just the opposite. The faculty and students do not like her.

Would it not be in the best interest of BU in the future, to abstain from
mainstream media articles that trash the soon to be outgoing admin (and by default BU itself)?

How much more bad publicity for BU do you want being picked up by national media and put in front of prospective students/their parents?

We know the current situation, who was responsible, and why people are moving on.

For the greater good, let this dead horse lie (pardon the pun).
 
That is a novel idea. But that is not the way it ever seemed to work before Joanne and Geno came to Bradley. Since you hate it when I bring up anything from the last coach, I'll only say that they did not hold back criticism directed against JL, or KK.
 
I guess I was mostly referring to negative press on JG and overall BU troubles (financial/enrollment) etc. which have been combined with stories of BU's athletic program problems people blame her for. The main mission of a University is to stay viable so it can successfully educate young adults for future success and contributions to society.

Athletic programs/personalities' successes or failures are open game for criticism and finger pointing, as they are but a side light to a University's mission. I would hope alum don't donate $$ to BU's academic mission/success solely on the basis of their MBB program's success or how they are treated as fans at BU MBB games... Given the periodic runs of MBB futility at BU over the years, and the fact BU is still here, it shows alums in the past have previously supported the University financially regardless.

At this stage of the game, four years later, does it really matter the PJS didn't support JL and now looks the other way with GF?

Until JG is gone, GF replaced, and BU MBB starts winning again, I guess JL will continue to be wished for/pined for/defended/adored and the "I told everyone so" themes will continue in as many different ways as some posters here can think of.....and be complained about as well as by other posters who were willing for BU MBB to take a risk to improve.

Was BU justified in trying to find someone else to move BU MBB to a higher level than JL achieved in 9 years? Yes IMHO. Was there a downside risk to such a move? Yes. Did BU make good moves in how they handled JL's dismissal and with the replacement they picked out? Nope. Are their any guarantees in life? Nope. Are the people whose decisions failed being accountable (professionally)? Looks like it.

We can only hope the next time, coming soon, BU does a better job with Athletics/MBB (with the help of everyone here on BF.com of course)...

I think it is not news - it's just what anyone would have predicted that they'd write in a PJS column

As with any person in any position
sure.....she has done a lot of good....who hasn't, otherwise she'd have been gone long ago...
As a person and as a University leader I will defend that she's done a lot worthy of mention....


So far - all ten Bradley University Presidents have come & gone...and all have left fine legacies...
The very first one, Edward Sisson, served for seven years...
The next couple served around 20 years each...
Then all the rest served from 6 to 9 years, except Dr. Abegg who served 22 yrs.
So Dr. Glasser's almost 7.5 years is about the average of every BU President for the last 90 years.
Likely she will be remembered for her rapport with students & community and with her involvement in the funds-raising & the building projects.

Let's get going and get Bradley and BU basketball back on track...
