2019 & Beyond Recruiting Targets

Bradley 2019 recruit ...Caleb Grill...
has verbaled to South Dakota State ....
article on Caleb Grill says his reasons were..
"the coaching staff, the opportunity to contribute right away and the chance to play in a fast-paced,
3-point-happy system that highlights his long-range shooting and athleticism"

he will have an opportunity to sign a LOI in November but kids have changed their minds before once a few phone calls or other "offers" arise..

This article from college basketball writer Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports about former Bradley recruit Caleb Grill from Wichita, Kansas claims:

Texas Tech, Nebraska, SMU, Washington State and Colorado State had each already offered Grill a scholarship. Oklahoma State and Kansas State were also in frequent contact with Grill and Wichita State and Oklahoma have shown interest as well.

But he passed up all those to commit early to South Dakota State.

Elijah Childs Retweeted Josh Earley

If you wanna develop and get better number 4 is a no brainer 👀🤐 #whynotBU

Wouldn't this be a recruiting violation?

Depending how one interprets the vague wording of the NCAA rules, it could be considered so. However, this happens all the time, and it happens far more in other ways of communication (verbal, private call, private text message, etc.). Whenever a recruit visits a school, he usually will hang with and scrimmage with players, and undoubtedly a lot of talk goes on between the recruit and the players that sound a lot like that tweet.
So I seriously doubt the NCAA would see it as something worth pursuing, or they'd have to police millions of tweets and other communications that recruits have.

Ha - no - it may be you who are the one who has committed the marginal recruiting violation

it is perfectly OK for one student athlete to talk to his long time friends but the schools ask their fans & boosters NOT to publicly communicate or post the individual Twitter & social media identities of the student athletes. It just increases the burden of supervision that their compliance offices have to do to avoid impermissible contact and recruiting violations...

That is why I did not identify the accounts of either Earley or Childs - just what Earley made public.

Several recruits have narrowed their choices and I have removed them -

2020 Dawand Jones- 6'8", 350 pound center from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He loves basketball and has multiple offers, but with his size (350 lbs) he has schools pursuing him as an offensive lineman

2020 Reggie Morris- 6'2" shooting guard from Grandview HS in Grandview, MO, just outside Kansas City. He plays on the same team as another BU recruit, Taj Manning. His father, Reggie Morris, Sr. is the team's head coach. Grandview HS won the Missouri Class 4A state championship last spring.

BTW, the name Reggie Morris (the father) was familiar to me, so after a bit more research, I found out why. He played his college basketball at Creighton University from 1982-1986, when they were a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. Bradley played Creighton 10 times during those 4 seasons (8 times in regular season, and twice in the MVC Tournament). I can't find stats from those games, but Bradley's record against them was 7-3.
Here were the stats for Reggie Morris at Creighton-

...Bradley coaches noted in attendance at the Peach Jam in SC watching Mario McKinney, Tray Jackson, Chris Payton & others
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/eric-bossi-s-peach-jam-blog-thursday
an interesting assessment on Chris Payton after the summer AAU - per Sun Times writer

"..The physical gifts ??“??“ the wide-shouldered body, the explosiveness off the
floor, the way he moves when he wants to ??“??“ are clear. The production on the
club circuit, however, has not matched the potential he possesses. The flash he
shows has not been followed by the substance. It??™s going to be interesting to
follow the recruitment of Payton going forward."
