Arizona assistant and ex-NBA Damon Stoudemire has left Arizona and taken a spot at Memphis...
there is news that he will be replaced at Arizona by ex-Drake head coach Mark Phelps - who is currently an assistant at Marquette.
Phelps and Arizona head coach Sean Miller previously worked together on the NC State staff, and Phelps also formerly was an assistant at Arizona State.
Arizona people - as seen in this link - are unimpressed by this hire.

"take a step away from the ledge"!

The first head coaching change of the 2014-15 season happened today. Hawaii relieved head coach Gib Arnold of his coaching position today. Assistant Coach Brandon Akana was also relieved of duties. Assistant coach Benjy Taylor (former head coach of Chicago State) will take over as interim head coach.
No official reason was given, but the University of Hawaii Chancellor did say that Arnold would remain employed by the university through January 31, 2015, and would then receive a lump payment for the remainder of his contract, which runs through June 31, 2015.

The University of Hawaii has been under investigation by the NCAA for self-reported infractions earlier this year, but there was no official word from them whether the changes today were related to that.

The Athletic Director released this statement-
"These painful but critical steps are being taken in an effort to strengthen our athletics program and to do right by our student athletes and students in general. We appreciate the work of Gib and Brandyn and wish them both the best in the future."

Chancellor Bley-Vroman said, "We are committed to setting the best possible examples for our players not only on the field of sports but in life. Athletics Director Jay has my full support in these steps that will strengthen the long-term future of our athletics program and our university."

ESPN has sources that went further and did confirm these changes were the fallout from the NCAA investigations, which likely means that reports of more serious infractions are forthcoming.

Hawaii just announced a bunch of self-imposed penalties for their cheating - hoping to avoid more from NCAA

..they vacate 37 wins over two seasons...

Northwestern's Chris Collins also got an extension to his contract, details unknown...

Collins has gone 14-19 and 15-17 his first two years at Northwestern - total 29-36

Bill Carmody averaged 18-15 over the last five seasons he was there and was 32-33 over the last two - leaving behind several of the best players Northwestern has seen in a while like Drew Crawford, Tre Demps, Jershon Cobb, Alex Olah...
Carmody, btw, is now an assistant at Holy Cross.

One more thing...to complete all the DI head coach hiring - Mike White was hired by Florida to replace Billy Donovan who went to the NBA,
then Louisiana Tech hired Miami Assistant Eric Konkol (whose name was mentioned for the Green Bay job to replace Brian Wardle)

One source has Tony Bennett and Virginia as the #1 recruiting class so far in 2016...
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Virginia-off-to-a-No-1-start-in-2016-37400362

Brad Soderberg replaced Ritchie McKay as assistant at Virginia.
This is Ritchie McKay's 6th stint as a head coach (Portland St., Colorado St., Oregon St., New Mexico, Liberty, then Liberty again) and his career record is 204-186, with his only NCAA appearance being pretty short-lived - a solid whumping in 2005 with Danny Granger at New Mexico - in which they trailed 34-11 at half and were out of it early.

Hearing there may yet be another I head coaching spot open - a great opportunity for someone..no official word yet..
but you'd have thought by June all the DI's would finally get all their coaches under contract
