2009 BU commitment- Jordan Prosser

Absolutely. If we are going to run this same offense going forward, we have to keep stocking the cupboards with guys that can shoot 3s...
We don't want to run the risk of adding athlete after athlete, and then find ourselves in a situation where we are an extremely athletic team full of a bunch of 6'5" to 6'9" guys that can run and jump but can't make a shot...
ER3 You are dead on. That is exactly what Gary Williams at Maryland has recruited and see where that has placed them lately. We need someone that can create on his own and shoot the long-ball.

They have a good chance of winning that tourney....
They are the top seed and their toughest competition come from Dwight (6-1), GCMS (Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley), and Prairie Central.

BU's other 2009 recruit Milos Knezevic is also playing in a holiday tournament this weekend. Liberty High School is playing in the MaxPreps Torrey Pines Invitational, one of the top tournaments in the west, and includes 77 teams from all over the US.

The Libery team also did a little charity work this week.

Jordan Prosser had 16 points and 11 rebounds in an easy win by Eureka over Flanagan-Cornell 69-42.
Eureka plays again tonight at 8:00 pm against Gardner-South Wilmington.

In other 1st round action in the Hawk Classic, the #3 seed, GCMS, got upset by 6th seed Lexington.
AND the #4 seed, Prairie Central also was upset as well and got beat by #5 seed GSW (Gardner South-Wilmington.

Lexington 74 - GCMS 67

also
Dwight 71 - Iroquois 64.
GSW 56 - Prairie Central 48
Eureka 69 - Flanagan 42 (Prosser sat out the 4th quarter according to news coverage)

So Eureka will face #5 seed GSW today (at 8PM), and if they win, they will face the winner of #6 Lexington/#2 Dwight for the championship Monday.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Hawk Classic was postponed today due to power outages caused by the storm that passed through the area. It's scheduled to resume play on Monday I believe.

Interesting....I spent the day down at the State Farm Classic in Bloomington, weather was warm & rainy but not bad.

This information would have been very valuable BEFORE I drove over an hour to an empty Prairie Central HS in Fairbury. Route 24 is nice and all...but man did that suck!

Eureka High School won Monday night 79-48 over Gardner-South Wilmington High School. They now move to the championship game of the Hawk Classic against Dwight HS. Eureka record moves to 5-4. Jordan Prosser had 11 points and 10 rebounds. He was triple-teamed all game, but Eureka's guards hit their open shots.

Sounds like this tournament lacks competition...

It certainly isn't up to par with the State Farm Classic, Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament, or the Carbondale Tournament even...

Here's an interesting article if anyone interested...

It is about a high school game last night between Dwight & St. Anne.
http://www.daily-journal.com/archives/dj/display.php?id=433563

Tons of fouls, "questionable calls", seven technicals, coach ejected, and one team
shot 40 free throws while the other shot only four!
One player on Dwight scored 24 points in the game on one single made field goal!
(He hit 21 OF 24 FTs as he shot all the technicals.)

Reading some of the posts at the end of the column this must have been some display by officials, players and coaches.
I wonder when they play again....it could be very entertaining

Those are some good comments, I had not read those until you mentioned them.
I wonder if we might get one of those refs at a game somewhere down the road at our kids' school? I recall we did play a Sectional right up there in Mendota one year didn't we, lefty? In fact, that was the game we got a "T" for 6 players on the court!! ;)

Hopefully we wouldn't get one of those refs. Seems like they really lost control. Sounds like they were not very experienced at all.
It was in Mendota for the sectional although it seemed like the refs were ok...of course we won so no harm done;).

The place that was the worst was Hartsburg-Emden. That's why we don't play them anymore. You just tried to get out alive.
