Judge issues ruling that immediately makes all Class of 2022 athletes eligibile for 2026-27 - That would include Meta & AJ Smith.

Another stunning reversal in this chess match. The lawyers for the players are now shopping for another judge to help turn things back in their favor. This shows no signs of reaching a conclusion anytime soon.

One quote from the coverage on this...

"major legal or federal court appeals involving the NCAA can take months to years to fully resolve."

The USA article says this NATIONWIDE reversal of the earlier "blanket" eligibility ruling in a Federal Appeals Court means essentially that NCAA has won.
There are still a handful of lower court injunctions that give a few dozen specific athletes an extra year but NCAA is encouraged that they will pursue overruling those as well.

NCAA's main argument is:
"Countless student-athletes already on campuses, and schools who built their rosters in reliance on the rules the NCAA's membership wrote and agreed to follow,
do not believe it is fair for thousands of formerly-ineligible athletes to return to competition at the start of the 2026-27 season"

Ha- the basketball season starts in about 2 months, football and other fall sports seasons (like Bradley Soccer) are already underway.
What I have seen is that in these late summer exhibitions, the players in question are being held out for the time being.

Will ISU bring in a replacement for Messina-Moore? This ruling also makes UNI's trey Campbell ineligible.

Just like the Patriot League did in football, I don't know why the NCAA can't just rule that anyone who uses one of these players forfeits or is ineligible for the postseason?

they can but that would trigger more discrimination lawsuits, so instead they have said they hold the right to choose who gets bids to the post-season and what seeds they get and can use that to "level the playing field".

Agree, and go further in that anyone that chooses to break our rules will not be allowed into post season tournaments because of this matter. These are the rules that are now in place and we expect the NCAA members to follow them or be penalized.

No..they are looking for a judge so they can collect a paycheck.
