2026 Portal transfers

Iowa State lands 3 portal transfers this weekend- Leon Bond III from UNI, Jaquan Johnson from Bradley, and now Taj Manning from Kansas State. Manning is a 6'7", 230 pound junior forward who started 17 games and averaged 4.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg. He has limited offensive skills, but is a big body rebounder who will probably play off the bench for Iowa State when their roster is finalized.

Yeah, I had to correct that on the other thread, and neglected to correct it here. I originally was lead to believe the Bulgarian was a big man, but found out he was a point guard. It's corrected now on the original post.
We could still use another true inside big man.

Another blow to UNI- Ben Schwieger enters the portal with a do not contact tag.
That usually means he already knows where he is transferring. Utah State possibly?
He may need a waiver from NCAA.
The additional year he’s seeking is because in 2023-24 he played 10 games - but that’s 32% of the season & NCAA RULES limit to no more than 30%. It was for this same limit that Hickman never got the waiver.

Here is a little insight into how recruiting the transfer portal works now.
Coaches contact agents, and give them a price range they are able to pay in NIL for a certain position (PG, SG, PF, center) or level of player skills (all-conference, scoring leader, etc) and the agent sends them a list of transfers that fit the criteria. It's kind of like buying a used car with some aspects of a smorgasbord buffet restaurant.
The coach will say, "I need a point guard, and a rebounding power forward, 6'8" or taller, and I need to keep the NIL under $60K for each".
Agent: "Have we got a deal for you... but you'll have to sweeten the pot a little. can you go $80K each?"

Don’t forget to get the undercoating.
