DC started and had a GREAT game!!

Team USA beat the Canadians, in a very surprisingly close game 85-81, at the World University games in Belgrade, Serbia.

David Collins started, played 22 minutes, was 3-5 from the floor, 5-5 from the FT line,
and had 11 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 assists...against a team of superb American college players, coach ed by Wisconsin's Bo Ryan and including Craig Brackins, Jarvis Varnado, Evan Turner, Deon Thompson, Robbier Hummel, De'Sean Butler, etc..

This game was a real scare for Team USA, as Canada led going into the 4th quarter 67-57!!
In fact Canada took a double digit lead in the 1st quarter and didn't relinquish the lead until late in the 4th quarter!

Here is the box score

(note this report hasn't been picked up by a single news outlet!! these are our American kids (& Canadians) so what gives...
they deserve some coverage!
Here's a report from the Wisconsin site

I'm happy for him. Hope he has good success with whatever he does after Bradley.

Those are pretty good stats against good competition.

Here's more coverage from a Canadian site...

Canada came out firing, setting a blistering pace with 28 points to the Americans' 19 in the opening 10 minutes.
A seven-point Canadian edge at halftime (43-36) grew to 10 by the end of the third (67-57), but a 12-0 run
by the U.S. to open the fourth quarter erased that advantage and the Americans never trailed again.

Ottawa's Josh Gibson-Bascombe of Toronto put up 12 points and hauled down eight rebounds,
while fellow Toronto native David Collins of Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.,
matched the eight-board performance while pouring in 11 points.

Also in their 2nd game, the Team USA guys LOSE to Serbia 98-82!
Ohio State's Evan Turner had a nice game (16 pts, 6 rebs) but nobody else did much.
Serbia pounded the ball inside and took advantage of Team USA's more athletic but smaller post players.
