Wilkins enrolls at Southeastern Iowa JUCO

A real disappointment. He would have helped-if not this year then next year. Now he will have to hustle and see if he can get his associates degree in the next 1.5 years. Although some seem to be giving up on him coming to Bradley I take it as a positive that Jeff is restating his commitment to Bradley-really no reason for them to do that if they don't mean it. So, I take them at their word and look forward to having John in 2010-2011.

Questions (which I am sure will be answered in time) and have been mentioned elsewhere -does the 5 game suspension hit him in JC rather than at Bradley ? If he does not play this year does he have 3 years available at BU ?

In my world this opens a ride for next season...I hope we have a couple Bigs in mind to choose from...ONE Big and ONE gaurd to help round out the team for next season!

Well, that's too bad he'd've been a big help if he'd been able to make it to BU this semester. I hope everything works out for John and he gets through his associates degree and does indeed remain committed to BU. Be happy to welcome him here when the eligibility issue gets worked out, and wish him well whatever he does decide if he changes his mind.

FWIW, it seems like time to get his little (big) brother enrolled in a US high school so he can qualify right away.

I played college baseball with Jon Grzanich who is an assistant at the Junior College maybe I can help have him hidden so no one sees him and he gets that degree ASAP. Also Graznich used to the head coach at Spoon River and I know him and Les have a relationship. So that probably is good.

But this is not good as far as Wilkins ever coming to Bradley. But thats less the issue here, what is the issue is the absolute preference the NCAA shows towards BCS programs. We will never be given the full and absolute truth as to why Wilkins was denied but it does not take a huge leap of faith to believe that he was denied simply because of the school who wanted him accepted.

Darrell Arthur and Kansas get essential a free pass for what likely amounted to complete grade fixing by his high school. Him and the program get cleared with little issue. But Wilkins who passes his entrance exams on the first try is denied because of "issues".

The NCAA is nothing but a bunch of hypocites and we just got it bigtime from them simply because it is Bradley. If this were Wilkins trying to get into Kansas, does anyone believe he is not admitted 2 weeks ago and is featured on ESPN before a game.

This decision is a complete and utter joke.

After looking at that list of former SE Iowa players DC just provided, I wouldn't be surprised to see JW end up at Florida International...

Well, I'm disappointed he couldn't make it here sooner, but good luck to John at JUCO and hoping he's still a Brave after 1.5 years.

Do JUCOS still sign letters of intent? If so, how soon could Wilkins sign-up assuming he's still interested in coming to BU?

of course they can sign a Letter of Intent.
Wilkinis will be eligible to sign a LOI possibly as soon as fall of 2009 if he is on target to graduate by the following spring.

NLI Provision 3
b. Junior College Graduation. After signing this NLI while in high school or during my first year of full-time enrollment at a junior college, the terms of this NLI will be satisfied if I graduate from junior college.

Looks like there will be a 'Wilkins Watch' all summer and fall leading up until signing day. Wonderful.
