Why?

Why did McCain ever start at point? Last night Sammy showed you what a real ponit guard does. There is no way McCain will ever do that.

SM had a great game last night! Why bring in EM to the discussion? EM is injured and IMO he could have been a disruptor of that match up zone also with the ability to dribble penetrate. Let's not discount EM. SM proved his worth and why he is a starter but it has been the last few weeks that he has been healthy. Earlier on he was not playing as well.

Early on he was also trying to play the 2 when he is really a point guard. Now Sam is playing where should of been playing all year.

Does anyone remember the end of the home game vs SIU? I like Sam and I know that his ankles were bothering him at that time.

I would guess with Sammy's early season healing process it was a decent option. However, whenever EM steps on the floor I usually comment to someone near me that coach is going with only 4 offensive players on the floor. With our hot/cold streaks on offense, playing him over SM for any amount of time becomes unrealistic.

I recall a couple of pretty good players who had major sophomore slumps and were more or less buried by a lot of fans. Both JJ Tauai and Jeremy Crouch ended up having pretty nice careers. I will agree wholeheartedly that he's got a lot of work and a lot of improving to do, but I'm not going to bury McCain just yet.

I disagree. EM had what would be considered by most to be a rather solid freshman year. Playing the point in a conference typically dominated by upperclassmen is no picnic for a frosh. While a little erratic IMO he was rather good last year.

This year is another story, but a 2 year slump he has not had. I see the comparison to JC as being pretty accurate. Hopefully he will recover as JC did as well.

Edge had some very good games last season and was responsible for holding SIU"s Dillard to 0 points in the MVC Tour., he has been thru a lot of stuff that most of us could not have handled , he just needs to get his confidence back as he has potential .

Sam can score well, and there was a desire to see if using EM as point would free up Sam to come off screens and maybe do more scoring...

I hope McCain sees more of the floor soon as Sam will be toast by March with the amount of minutes he's logging. Our lack of depth is a real cause for concern. There will be no easy wins after Saturday, and we better not look past them either. Roberts Stadium has been a house of horrors for us

Let's all remember a "real" point guard is usually not the leading scorer for most teams.

True, but he has to be a threat to score. EM isn't right now. Teams play way off him and his defender can cause havoc without much risk. Plus, it's hard for him to beat his defender off the dribble when he plays a couple feet off him.

Good post BB. EM does alot of things our other guards don't do. JJ and JC did have poor Soph years and I like what we get from EM other then scoring and I think that will come around. I'm not burying EM either. In fact a bigger problem then EM is we need to get AW going. Don't understand the knock on EM right now . He ISN'T hurting us AW is. Do we need AW more then EM? You bet we do lets get AW back on track.Could mean the difference between THUR or FRI in St.Louis.

BU has won at Evansville in 3 of the last 4 seasons, with the loss being last year. Unless you are going back before that I am not quite sure what you mean. I agree that we cannot look past anyone at this point

Yes it has. Evansville used to be part of my Sales Territory. I would always schedule my visits there to coordinate with Bradley playing at Roberts. Even though we had the better team, it seemed when we went to E-Ville we could not have thrown a Brick in the Ohio River. We would lose!
Even when we did throw a brick in the river, Grangers 37, we still lost
. Fortuantely it appears our fortunes in E-vill has changed. maybe because I do not go there anymore.
Hopefully they stay changed, if the team that played @ Il. St.or Mo. St showsup, we are in trouble.
