Why wait?

Fire Madame Glasser ASAP, but not because of sports... I think I've realized that its game over for Geno but I see no need to let him go right now, waiting until the end of the season doesn't hurt anything (though I don't think it'll happen even then).

in all fairness - the main reason to consider making a change now is to get someone in here NOW who can begin to recruit and get somebody that can play the game - so we have a chance of being better next year. I doubt anyone else is gonna coach this group who can't shoot or make layups and do much better...

BUT - maybe others need to go 1st because I do not want the people who created this mess to think they're in charge of fixing it now...
but since we don't have a single recruit signed or coming in for next year we definitely need to do something soon so we can land some talent

Here's what I see....

I see an admin, Athletic Dept. and coaching staff that is so worried and stressed out over what everyone thinks...and it is distracting them from performing their jobs - they now just want to claim everything's great when it is not...
They are trying to do a massive spin job with the help of the PJS to buffalo fans into thinking we're right around the corner from good times...

Stop the spin - admit you've made bad moves and screwed up and start fixing it...
THEY OUGHT TO BE 100% FOCUSED ON GETTING IT DONE - hiring top personnel, recruiting top players, then coaching them up and WINNING!

Instead everything we read is some excuse or slam at the fans - that they are uneducated, that they don't know how great it is playing at Ren-Col, that the ones in the upper bowl don't make much money for BU...
Then they focus on logos, mascots, changing the fans' favorite events then telling the fans they don't know good from bad...

Please - just let the fans think what they want and talk BU basketball - good or bad - just like we always have for decades.
Stop spending your days reading message boards and telling the fans to just be patient and stop asking for improvement --

Instead - just GIVE THE FANS IMPROVEMENT - not to mention stop messing with all the fans' favorite events.

UIC game? HA!! You won't catch me anywhere near the Civic Center. If anyone needs me, I'll be up in Evanston at Welsh-Ryan. Go Cats!

I would suggest firing the president and the athletic director before the 2nd semester starts. I would say fire Ford now, but I'm not sure you would gain anything by it. In addition, there will be coaches getting fired, once the season is over, that could be candidates if Geno is gone. The problem is this. There is no sense firing Ford until Glasser and Cross are gone. We don't want more of the same. Finding a replacement for Glasser will take some time, unless there is somebody on campus that could be a suitable president on an interim basis. The athletic director is not that big of a deal as far as an immediate hire. The Board of Trustees need to get this hire right. It is difficult and really not ethical in my opinion, to go courting potential coaches during the season. I don't think we would want someone doing it to us. Let's face it. We are screwed for the time being. I still want to know if it is official, that Ford has been given a two year contract. All I have heard is rumor. The next basketball coach needs to be hired or at least interviewed by a panel of respected people, that are familiar with coaching, the NCAA and Bradley tradition and expectations.

What did you expect! You hire an east coast liberal to run your university and you are surprised when they think you are stupid. Bradley works well when if it run or coached by people with Bradley and mid west roots. Go back to those types of people and Bradley will come back like wild fire.

I think there will be more than 1,500 at the UIC game. However I don't expect us to have crowds above 5,000 (actual) for any game but Wichita and Illinois State. I was expecting BU to finish around 5th this year in the Valley. I don't see them finishing above 7th place this season, and once again in the play-in round at the MVC tournament. This team is lost, has no heart and doesn't execute the basic fundamentals. It is the direct result of bad coaching.

Priorities

Priorities

For better or worse, I suggest the priority right now for BU is a Board of Trustees and a President who can reverse the apparent decline in BU being a growing, financially sound, respected, academic university.

Much more imaginative leadership needed to attract more students and keep alumni involved in the whole university, including the athletic dept.

With the headwinds of a small private university, in a (apparently) struggling smaller upper mid western city in the middle of no where, in a declining underdeveloped neighborhood, the need to be creative and way far in front of the game has never been more important. Business as usual is not getting it done.

Having a large multi national industry leader in town should give BU a major boost in developing business, engineering and computer programs and in recruiting many more students.

No organization is successful just cutting budgets.

IF BU goes down the tube, doesn't really matter if BU has a HOF MBB Coach and National Champion MBB program.

Vent - his contract was extended just no word on one year or two years and barring another lawsuit with the testimony being made public record - there's no way we're going to ever know.
- so he's under contract 'til 2017 or 2018.

If you fire Geno now, you go maybe $1.5 to 2.2 mil more in debt... and still have to shell out plenty to hire a new guy..
If you fire JG, MC, and Geno you have to buy out probably >$5 mil in contracts..

Personally my confidence that the Prez or the Board will get anything right at this stage is 0.0%
Remember - the new Chairman of the Board is sending out letters to everyone who writes - saying BU has no problems,
that we are doing better than any time in the past 30 years, and that finishing the MVC Soccer race with only ONE win and in next to last place was "competing for the championship",
he used injuries as excuses, then said no further action would be taken ..and "It is on our radar and we will assess its progress at the end of the season."

In other words - the Chairman of the Board also has absolutely zero clue what's going on, and that thinks everything's hunky dory, and that they're checking out 'til the end of the season....

I say throw $1 million at someone like Jim DeRose, Chuck Buescher, Eddie Mathews, or even Marcus Pollard or Joe B McDade to come in and clean up this mess...
but please keep any future decisions out of the hands of Shaheen, JG, Stewart or any current yes-man member of this board..they have all steered us so far down the river that we might never get back ...

If I did this badly at my profession, I'd have expected to have been canned long ago - and even sued for every cent...

They will continue to lose $4-6 million per year on lost ticket revenues, lost maintenance fees, and lost donations if they do not change course immediately.
It seems like a no-brainer to just bit the bullet and buy out those that have to go. At least then, the revenue would start to trend back up immediately.

And a good young coach like Jerrance Howard would take the job for less than 1/3 what we are paying now.
