Why the Bracketbuster was good!

Before anyone on Valleytalk or anywhere dismisses the Bracketbuster, I think we all need to realize what a help this can be.

Let's list the positives:

1) National TV game
2) Game against what should be a similar RPI team
3) Chance to step out of conference wars and show how good your team is vs. another team.
4) Chance for signature win, especially if playing on the road like SIU, BU, and UNI.
5) Analyst like Jay Bilas can say Bradley helped themselves more than any other team with their win.

All of these things happened for BU. If the Bracketbuster wasn't here, BU would have lined up 4th in pecking order... now they have a signature road win over a 1st place team in the tough Colonial.

Bottom line - MSU, CU, and WSU should have taken care of business at home. But they didn't, and that is their fault.

It was great to see BU get a bigtime game on national TV and show the country how good of a team they are. Now let's go on to win the last 2 at home (don't overlook anyone), and then take their chances in the MVC tourney.

Don't forget VCU with presumably a good RPI in Carver next year. I think BB is great for all the reasons you just stated. I don't think Jay Bilas is talking about BU if they just beat InSU in conference and we sure would not have been on ESPN2. I guess you could say BB gave BU their best win (@ VSU) and their worst loss (@ TTU) I am sure the team likes a break form the conference season also. The CU, WSU, MSU fans would love BB if they won.

If nothing else I think the Bracketbuster is worthwhile solely for the TV time, nowadays that's worth so much for recruiting and recognition, and I loved being able to see mvc basketball all day!!

It was one H*LL of a reason to go to Wild Wings, eat and drink some Beer. WE WON TOO!

GO BU!

I heard Livingston was at the BuffWildWings in Gr Prairie to watch his old teammate Ruffin.

:-o

I think the other thing to keep in perspective about the bracketbuster... if the MVC pulls out of something like this wouldn't that make us just like the "big programs" that we all malign for not having the cajones to play us?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I love the opportunity to go out and play a tough team during the conference schedule on national TV. As MDcowboy said, MSU CU and WSU should've taken care of business, and that's that.

Thanks Fish... all the whining on the ValleyTalk board by CU and WSU fans drives me nuts....

The MVC should embrace the chance to play in this... heck - the MVC should try to dominate the event and win a higher percentage of games and truly stand out.

If WSU, MSU, and CU all won at home, the MVC would have been 8-2 and things would be looking much better for the conference RPI.

More than that though - it was just great to have an event showcase MVC schools and have a chance to make a statement on national TV.

I actually was shown a pic of him on my friend's cell phone while he was there at BW3's in Grand Prairie.
