Why are we being turned down by other head coaches?

what I read on the trib says we have been turned down by two head coaches, Jeter and Monson, rumors say we have been turned down by some assistants also, seems to me like after a meeting with the admin they are no longer interested, I may not be a genious but I can identify the common denominator in this equation

Please share your knowledge then...

Monson said he didn't want to interview... so maybe he likes where he is... Jeter interviewed apparently and said no- only he knows why... anything else is just an opinion, or even worse, conjecture, or just plain rumor....

If only the administration had come out and tld everyone who they were interviewing in teh first place, how long a contract was being offered and at what annual pay, all this would be a moot point

i stand corrected

i stand corrected

ok, Jeter is the only confirmed interview, but if you read the article it says they have been looking for a head coach and have been "spurned by jeter and rebuffed by a handful" seems to me like we are not as appealing to a coach as all of us BU fans believe we are and there in lies the common denominator again.

tornadoes right, coaches are usually type A personality types/control freaks, at least most of the good ones, and i dont see that as a bad thing

why would he interview if he was never interested? that makes no sense[/QUOTE I would think he WAS interested thats why he interviewed. I'm only guessing here, but I think T is probably real close. The assts were probably a deal breaker and who wants to come into a new job and walk on egg shells like we've heard everyone working up there is doing.IMO This is a great job and I feel confident someone we like or at least most of us will like will take this job and lead us to better days.

An attempt to offer an educated guess to the original question:
Because after accepting an interview offer from Bradley, they call their well-connected colleague and former head coach Jim Les. The candidate has concerns and questions about the environment associated with the coaching position at Bradley after seeing that they decided to part ways with their alumnus and former star player-turned-coach. As a business friend, be offers a realistic and candid answer to the questions they have. After getting their questions answered, other options look more appealing and they withdraw. Coaching is somewhat a tight fraternity, and Jim is well known.

That is a great response.

If people are turning to Jim for coaching advice, we need to look at other candidates.

Jim's legacy will show he left this job in a whale of a lot better state than it will be for years to come.

But Jim Les does have some valuable experience in another area, as does Travis Ford. I assure you both have gotten calls lately.

As I have said before, when candidates turn you down even when you are offering way more money than they should be getting offered, it doesn't take a genius to figure out why.

We still have a chance to get this right, but....

I don't believe Dub said that people were turning to Jim for coaching advice. In fact, he said "The candidate has concerns and questions about the environment associated with the coaching position at Bradley after seeing that they decided to part ways with their alumnus and former star player-turned-coach"

Where did you come up with "coaching advice"?

If Jeter turned it down to hopefully look at the Marquette though I understand that....who knows maybe if Marquette loses this weekend and Buzz ends up staying put Jeter reconsiders if we haven't hired anyone yet

Okay, how many people get fired and then say, "hey that was great"? It can't be many.

I understand people may call Jim for some background. If he is slamming BU, that is too bad, but understandable. I would hope he wouldn't try and keep people away.

Once a Brave, always a Brave?

Who knows...

I don't want him on the rebound............

Of course it could be worse than 12-20 and last place

It very well could. We were 12-20 with our two best players who were injured coming back next year and a top recruiting class coming in. We could pretty easily be relegated to 12-20 every year with little hope of improvement.

I suspect the people doing the calling just want factual info about what they are getting into. I also suspect those getting called just want to inform them of what's true. I seriously doubt there is any slamming going on by anyone.
